Steve Jobs Funeral Set For Friday
According to sources familiar with the matter, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs’ funeral will take place Friday, October 7th.
The Wall Street Journal quotes the source, saying the funeral will be a small, private gathering. The source had nothing to say regarding the time and location of the funeral, as they wished to respect Jobs and his family’s privacy.
Although Apple has not announced any public services for Jobs, people all across the world have been setting up impromptu memorials outside of Apple Stores. There, people are leaving flowers, messages, and lighting candles for the man that had such a great impact on their lives.
As far as Apple employees are concerned, Tim Cook said (in an email on the night of Jobs’ passing) that they are planning a “celebration” of Steve’s life. Everyone else was asked to share their thought and memories by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
There has been some controversy regarding Steve Jobs’ funeral, as fringe religious organization Westboro Baptist Church tweeted and blogged that they plan to picket his funeral. Westboro, of course, is known for protesting high profile funerals of celebs and fallen soldiers.
In an ironic twist, it was learned that the anti-Jobs tweets were sent out via Twitter for iPhone. Without a prominent public funeral, it will be quite difficult for Westboro to follow through on their plans.
