  • Stephen Hawking is usually the guy defending and promoting science and technology, but even he knows when science has gone too far.

He recently talked about artificial intelligence and said that it could mean the end for mankind as we know it.

“The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race,” he said while speaking to the BBC.

Many science fiction books and films have demonstrated the downside of artificial intelligence and have shown what kind of problems it could bring humans.

Imagine a world where you were no longer needed to do your job, clean your home or even take care of your kids. If a robot with artificial intelligence could do all of these things, would there be a need for real people any longer?

Of course, humans would be needed to help create and update the artificial intelligence at first, but what if it was capable of learning to do that itself and how many people would it take to keep these robots running?

What would happen to everyone else?

A lot to think about right?

Luckily, artificial intelligence is still in its primitive stages, but Hawking warns that it could grow quickly and beyond what anyone expects or could control.

“Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn’t compete and would be superceded,” Hawking warned.

Could mankind handle an army of robots with artificial intelligence if they ever decided to turn on their makers?

Are scientists pushing science and technology to the point of no return or could artificial intelligence be a good thing?
