Many people are skeptical about the proposed Star Wars Episode 7 (VII) movie, especially since the original Star Wars guru George Lucas is not at the helm. Lost‘s J.J. Abrams is Director of the new Star Wars film; however, Lucas is involved with the film’s character development (according to IMDb).

With the new Star Wars film set to be released in 2015, small news bytes slowly trickle in. One of the most recent news bytes about episode VII is that Boba Fett will have his own spin off aside the new episode. According to Aceshowbiz, the ruthless-yet-quiet bounty hunter Boba Fett will have his own spinoff from the Star Wars movie.

Aceshowbiz describes that Lawrence Kasdan, who is slated to write the new Star Wars movie (and also worked on Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi), has been slated to pen the Boba Fett spinoff. Jon Schnepp, Director of Metalocalypse, discusses Kasdan’s role for the spinoff in an AMC Movie Talk interview (shown below). When asked about the Star Wars spinoffs, Schnepp answers:

“One of them is Boba Fett. It is. I know. I know for a fact. I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan.”

J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII is set to broadcast in theatres on December 18th, 2015, and the storyline is speculated to continue after the events that happened in Return of the Jedi.

I am actually looking forward to the JJ Abrams movie. He did a really good job with Star Trek. The trick with Star Wars is to make it so that both kids and adults will like it. The plot has to have some substance to it. No Ewoks and No Jar Jar Binks.

I remember watching the Ewoks as a kids and thought they were useless. Kids are more sophisticated now. Hell, they are going home and watching porn on the internet. Do you really think they care about Ewoks? Who are we kidding? It is 2013. Not 1953.

^ha! ha! Right when I read the article I knew someone was going to spout about their hatred for Jar Jar and how JJ Abrams is heaven-sent. If you actually watched Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek you will see that it’s a completely different story than the bastardized version Abrams gave us.

With that said, I am also looking forward to Episode VII, though I’m cautiously optimistic.

I agree that the Boa Fett spin off film should be a modern (Star Wars) Version of a spaghetti Western. A “Good, he bad and the ugly” type film would be great. Specially if it places the character in a different light. The question would be who would accompany him. I think it would be cool if Cad Bane, Aura Sing Even Ventress would show up.
