  • Bethesda has been more aggressive than usual in post-game support for Skyrim which has led to some amazing new features like archer and magic kill cams. One of the latest upgrades came in the form of mounted combat for the PC version, but now that update has hit the Xbox 360.

Bethesda announced today that the 1.6 update for Skyrim has hit the Xbox 360. The major addition as mentioned is mounted combat. This allows players to fight with melee or ranged weapons while riding a horse. It doesn’t clarify if ranged combat means just bows or if magic is an option as well.

The other big addition with 1.6 is that it readies the Xbox 360 version of the game for the first DLC expansion for Skyrim, Dawnguard. In it, the player is tasked with joining a group of vampires or the Dawnguard to either blot out the sun or protect the mass of incandescent gas up in the sky.

    Here’s the full change list:

It remains to be seen when this update will hit the PlayStation 3 version of the game. It shouldn’t be too much longer as Bethesda is pretty good about keeping on top of this stuff.

Here’s hoping the next major update brings that giant mudcrab battle that we saw at DICE. Skyrim could use some legendary monsters like the ones that were in Fallout: New Vegas.
