  • Simon Cowell has one less thing to do now that The X Factor is done and over with in the United States. The music mogul will remain busy despite the big hit to his pride and his pocketbook. He will serve as one of the judges on the U.K. version of The X Factor.

Despite the addition of coaches like Britney Spears and Demi Lovato, The X Factor simply couldn’t get enough viewers in the U.S. to keep the show on the air. This, in some ways, works well for Simon Cowell, as he has wanted to return to the U.K. show for some time now.

“The UK show needs him this year especially after losing out to Strictly last year,” a TV source said of the show losing out in the ratings to the BBC s’ Strictly Come Dancing. “Simon is incredibly competitive and this show is Simon’s baby. There’s a certain magic for Simon on this show because this is where it all started for him – so it was always going to be his priority.”

Despite Cowell’s often emotionless demeanor, he did express a taste of the bittersweet in a tweet he shared with his followers this week.

Do you suppose Simon’s baby mama, Lauren Silverman, will join him in the U.K. or will she–and Simon’s baby–continue to live stateside instead? And who else will sit at the judge’s table with the curmudgeonly Brit? Lots of questions remain unanswered right now.

“The other three seats are a long way from being decided so far. But everyone knows Simon attracts a higher calibre of singers to audition. Contestants have seen what he has done for Leona Lewis and One Direction as well as artists like Olly Murs and Cher Lloyd. They know he can spot real star potential,” the source adds.

Simon Cowell is due to become a dad on February 28th. His baby–a son–will reportedly be named Simon, Jr. How do you suppose fatherhood will figure in with returning as a judge on The X Factor in the U.K.?

Cowell will certainly be an interesting man to watch throughout the next few months, with all these new twists and turns in his life. How do you suppose he will handle them all?
