Shoppers Prefer the Virtual Hight Street

    December 12, 2007

It is estimated Britons will spend more than £66 million online this Christmas buying a third of all their presents, according to news reports.

Apparently, research carried out by eBay also shows that almost half of shoppers who have bought online now prefer the virtual high street to the real one, with Amazon expected to be the top online destination.

I was reminded of such consumer behaviour and online spending when I saw this truck this afternoon on the M4 at junction 10 just outside Reading.

It’s the first time I’ve seen the eBay logo and branding used this way in the UK. I’m not suggesting it’s eBay themselves doing this, incidentally: clearly not, looking at how the logo is being used in this example.

Note to readers who drive on the right (wrong) side of the road – no, I wasn’t driving and snapping at the same time. The steering wheel in my car is on the right (right) side :) It was my wife who took the pic.
