Selena Gomez: Teen Choice ‘Ultimate Choice’By: Kimberly Ripley - August 10, 2014
Selena Gomez is set to follow in the footsteps of celebrities like Justin Timberlake, Reese Witherspoon, and Britney Spears, according to MTV. She will reportedly be the recipient of the 2014 Teen Choice Awards ‘Ultimate Choice Award’ on Sunday.
The award will be given to the off-again, on-again girlfriend of Justin Bieber, singer, and actress in recognition of her “contributions to the entertainment world.”
Those contributions are fairly long, too, considering Selena Gomez is only 22 years old. For many years she starred in Disney Channel’s The Wizards of Waverly Place, in which she played beloved character Alex Russo. Since then she has starred in films including Spring Breakers, alongside pal Vanessa Hudgens, and in Getaway with Ethan Hawke. She voiced the character Mavis in Hotel Transylvania and is set to reprise the role in Hotel Transylvania 2 in 2015.
Then, of course, there’s Selena Gomez’s music career. And while it never hit the level of Justin Bieber’s, the ‘Come & Get It’ singer definitely made quite a name for herself there as well. Her 2013 album Stars Dance made an impressive climb up the music charts. She is presently working on her second solo record.
It hasn’t been an easy year for Selena Gomez. Don’t forget earlier in 2014 she spent two voluntary weeks at a treatment center for undisclosed issues. Then, of course, there’s all that Justin Bieber drama. None of that has stood in the way of the Teen Choice Awards organizers with regard to her being the recipient of this prestigious award, however.
The 2014 Teen Choice Awards will feature presenters including Jennifer Lopez. Taylor Swift will reportedly be on hand, as will The Fault in Our Stars star Ansel Elgort. Ariana Grande will make an appearance, too.
Will you be tuning in to the 2014 Teen Choice Awards live on Sunday evening at 8 P.M. EST on your local Fox station? If so you can join thousands of excited fans as they cheer on Selena Gomez when she is presented with the Ultimate Choice Award.
