  • Selena Gomez isn’t afraid to show a little skin, particularly on her Instagram account. But recently, her photos have been receiving some nasty comments regarding her body, and she’s not standing for it.

Gomez recently shut down a commenter who left a message for her on Instagram, saying, “@selenagomez you need to work out! Please stop eating junk food.” Not only did the actress and singer fire back, but her loyal fanbase had her back as well.

“You’re disgusting. IM IN the business and I could care less about ‘they’ or you say I should look like. I don’t need to do anything other than love myself, take care of my work, fans, family and friends….And I do work out. It’s not your place to tell anyone what they should or should not do,” Gomez wrote.

Gomez took to the image sharing site to post a photo of herself in a bathing suit with the caption, “I love being happy with me.” She was later defended whole-heartedly by actress Abigail Breslin, who said her friend looks amazing.

“Everyone is always saying how we shouldn’t judge each other, so why are you commenting on a gorgeous, talented and smart young girl’s body when she’s on the beach having fun with her friend AND SHE LOOKS AMAZING. Aren’t there more important things the world can be reporting on??” Breslin wrote on her blog.

I love being happy with me yall #theresmoretolove

Selena made headlines this week with her outfit for the Met Gala, which included a form-fitting white gown with a cutout and a gorgeous orchid headpiece. Gomez joined stars like Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Alba on the red carpet, where floral motifs were popular.
