Sarah Palin Speaks Out Against Chris ChristieBy: Amanda Crum - February 13, 2014
Sarah Palin recently spoke up about her opinion of the Chris Christie “Bridgegate” scandal, coming just shy of actually saying she doesn’t believe Christie’s claims that he didn’t know about his aides’ plans to close down lanes of traffic last year as revenge against the mayor for not backing him during election time.
Christie has repeatedly denied any knowledge of the lane closings, which caused major traffic headaches over four days in 2013 between the George Washington Bridge and the town of Fort Lee; school buses and emergency vehicles reportedly were some of the worst affected, with an elderly woman dying due to lack of timely medical care. When emails were released between Christie’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Bridget Anne Kelly, and a Port Authority appointee, David Wildstein, that showed discussion of closing the lanes, Christie fired Kelly and said he had nothing to do with it. Wildstein, an old school buddy of Christie’s, has come forward to say that not only did Christie know about the closings, his administration ordered them. For some, Wildstein’s allegations just confirm what they already suspected.
“It’s hard to be the CEO of an organization and not know what the closest people to you are up to,” Palin said on Inside Edition. “It’s tough not to know. I know when I was mayor and manager of this city and then governor of the state, certainly you know what your top aides are up to.”
It’s not the first time Palin has thrown a barb at Christie; in November, she said in an interview that while she thought his re-election was a good thing for New Jersey, she couldn’t come right out and back him personally.
“I would never put my faith and hope in any one politician,” she said.
