Ryan Gosling is one hot dad.

The new father was seen out and about on Friday in Los Angeles looking low-key.

However, photogs quickly spotted some new ink on Ryan Gosling's fingers.

The letters, one on each finger, spell out ESME.

Esme is the nickname that Ryan Gosling and girlfriend Eva Mendes gave their daughter, Esmeralda Amanda.

Eva Mendes explained how her and Ryan Gosling came up with the sweet name.

She said, “Ryan and I both love the Esmeralda character from the Victor Hugo novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and we just think it’s a beautiful name.”

She added, “Amada was my grandmother’s name. It means ‘beloved’ in Spanish.”

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes became parents to Esme in September of last year.

The tattoo on Ryan Gosling's fingers may be an eternal tribute to his baby girl, forever reminding him of her presence in his life.

Or it might be that Ryan Gosling's mind wandered during a boring meeting and he was thinking about his baby girl back home. And he happened to have an ink pen.

Either way, it's a sweet sentiment from one of Hollywood's hottest dads.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are hoping to keep little Esmeralda away from the spotlight as much as possible.

Eva Mendes admitted, “Whether we like it or not, privacy is going to be very difficult for Esmeralda. I think it’s unfair, but that’s our reality.”

She added, “Ryan and I decided early on to give her as much privacy as we could. And my pregnancy was the first opportunity to give her that … I find the media’s ‘bump watch’ obsession to be both intrusive and stressful. So I made a decision to eject myself from it completely. I was like, ‘Annnnd I’m out.'"

What do you think about Ryan Gosling's new ink?
