“Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts has been battling myelodysplastic syndrome for months now and was recently the recipient of a transplant, donated by her sister. Now, the 51-year old is finally at home and recuperating after an exhausting 30 days in the hospital.

“Home Sweet Home. That has never had quite so much meaning before,” she wrote on her blog.

Roberts kept up her GMA schedule for a while, but eventually took some time off for a vacation to Italy to recharge before going into the hospital. Now, however, she’ll be forced to take it easy and be careful not to come into contact with any bacteria or germs that could be dangerous to her as she heals. Roberts wrote about the near future on her blog, thanking her family and the team of doctors who helped her along the way over the past month.

This doesn’t mean that my journey is over. Far from it. I am considered 21 days old. That’s how long it has been since my transplant. Remember when you brought your baby home for the first time? Your precious bundle didn’t leave the house much and you were careful that anyone who came in contact with your child was healthy. So I will still be resting away from GMA until I’m given the all clear, but sleeping in my own bed again feels like a big victory. My doctors will be monitoring me closely and I will still be at the hospital regularly to make sure we’re on the right track.

Why in the world would you wish such a thing on a person who appears to be a fairly good human being, and is struggling with a horrible disease. Just when I think nothing can surprise me, along comes someone like you.

      • Barak

I agree why not wish Robin all the best in her journey of recovery, instead of hateful comments. Remember, what ever one wishes someone can come back.

I would trade you lifes and bodies in day of the week. I had a horrible accident six and a half years ago and should not have lived but that our good Lord I am still here and would love to talk to you about it as in my case noone seems to care and I had an attorney but he sold me out as I guess they all do. Please help me! Thank you for your time in this matter as I really do need help from a legal stand point and medical stand point as noone should have to get up every morning as I do in such horrible pain.
