  • Ronda Rousey made an off-hand comment in a Reddit AMA. Now there is a growing call to get the MMA superstar a role in a superhero film.

When Ronda Rousey held her Reddit AMA this past week, she was asked about the possibility of being cast in a superhero film.

If you were to be in a superhero movie, which hero would you play?

well… a lot of the good ones have been taken, but I’d like to vie for Miss Marvel.

Rousey was referring to the character of Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel. There has been much speculation about how will be cast in the role for the planned Marvel Comics film. Now that Rousey has brought it up, fans are clamoring to the notion.

Fans have started Photoshopping designs of Captain Marvel with Rhonda Rousey’s likeness. The star posted a collage of some of them to her Instagram account.

No official announcement has been made about the casting yet, although some were hoping for news as early as today at the D23 Expo.

Some have proffered Emily Blunt as their preferred name for Carol Danvers.

But others are saying they want Jennifer Lawrence, who is already involved in the X-Men universe.

The Captain Marvel film is slated to hit theaters in November, 2018. So no matter who ends up getting cast, it will be a while before fans get to see anything more than mock-up artwork of the superhero. It is largely recognized that the film will be a key event, but some fans are mistaken in thinking it will be the first female-led superhero movie to hit theaters. Wonder Woman will be released in June, 2017. It will, however, be the first female-led MCU (Marvel Comics Universe) film.
