When someone finds a link to share, the odds are rather good that Facebook will be their next online stop.  According to a new report, people prefer to share links through Facebook rather than Twitter, email, Delicious, or just about anything else.

AddToAny, which makes a content-sharing widget, looked at the habits of global Internet users and found that 24.0 percent of them favor Facebook for sharing.  Email, the runner-up, is less than half as popular, getting only 11.1 percent of the vote.  This obviously puts Facebook in a position of considerable importance.

Next on AddToAny’s list comes Twitter, which is the go-to sharing tool for 10.8 percent of the company’s user sample.  It’s interesting to see Twitter almost neck-and-neck with a method of communication that’s so much older, and given another few months, it seems likely to pass email in these rankings.

Then, we have Yahoo Bookmarks, MySpace, Windows Live, Delicious, and Digg also getting put to relative shame, with tallies amounting to 5.5 percent, 5.0 percent, 4.7 percent, 4.5 percent, and 4.4 percent, respectively.
