  • Next month, cable will launch a new channel, Fox Sports 1, and with this launch, will debut a new sports show called “Crowd Goes Wild”. The host of “Crowd Goes Wild” will be, none other than “Who Wants to be a Millionaire’s” Regis Philbin.

Philbin, who will turn 82 years old only days after “Crowd Goes Wild” premier on August 19, left his most recent show “Live with Regis and Kelly” in 2011, and said he hadn’t been searching for a new show until he met with Fox about hosting “Crowd Goes Wild”.

The executive producer, of the show, Michael Davies, has worked previously with Philbin on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”, and stated,”Every single one of us has a parent or a grandparent who struggles with social media. We’re going to frankly have a lot of fun with Regis’ struggles with social media.”

Hosting alongside Philbin will be ex-NFL defensive lineman Trevor Pryce, Wall Street Journal columnist Jason Gay, former pro tennis player Michael Kosta and former Sky Sports News host Georgie Thompson.

We’ve got a nice little panel of people together, a lot of friends, and if a celebrity like George Clooney comes to town with a movie, we’ll play clips from his movie — but we’ll also talk to George, who grew up in Cincinnati, about his sports roots, like if he’s still a big Reds fan. –Regis Philbin

Davies wants the audience to know that, “We’re not a sports news show; we’re a sports entertainment show. The standard for us: We’re not trying to set the agenda of what America are talking about on a daily basis. We’re frankly trying to be funny a lot of the time. You speak to a young comedian or a young athlete about Regis, their eyes light up. That is something that is very unique that I don’t think a younger host could actually bring to it.”

“Crowd Goes Wild” will air Monday through Friday on Fox Sports 1, and will be an hour long sports entertainment show that will feature celebrity guests, whether it be actors or athletes.
