You would think that if a country music legend like Randy Travis asked you to sing with him you would say yes. However, there is one person who has flat out refused to partner with Travis … Taylor Swift.

It was reported that Travis has reached out to Swift in hopes of getting his career back on track after his string of DUIs and his near death experience last year.

According to showbizspy.com, Randy had his people talk to Swift about a possible duet, but she simply said no. “Randy is desperate to get his career back on track,” a source said. “He has had his people reach out to Taylor Swift about a possible duet, but she said no!”

Taylor’s career has skyrocketed the past few years, and she continues to belt out number one hits. She has become one of the best known female country singers of all time, and says that she can’t be associated with the baggage that comes along with Randy. She wants to maintain her reputation and feels that doing a duet with Travis would flaw her image.

“Taylor is steering well clear of Randy,” another source revealed. “She knows about all his troubles. She can’t be associated with someone like that.” As of right now, neither singer has commented on or confirmed the validity of the rumors.

If this is true, Taylor would be one of the few people to put down Randy. Most of his other fellow country music singers have shown their support for him. During the George Jones tribute last year, Jon Voight took a moment to recognize Travis and his current struggles.

I’m so deeply honored to be in the church of Jones with you all. George Jones had a good friend who was really all of our good friend, and that is Randy Travis. And Randy is going through a great challenge as we speak, and he’s making great strides. And as we know the most important thing, the most important thing to a person’s recovery is their will to recover, and I feel that with all our love and prayers Randy will receive that energy and perhaps, perhaps a miracle may be shown. I know Randy is going to be listening to this. He’s going to be watching this so we have an opportunity to speak to him. Let’s make a human chain of love for Randy. Hold the hand of the person next to you, and…we’ll shout Randy’s name. He’s not too far away from here, he can probably hear us from this building.

She has NO business in country music. Please go jump off a cliff, Taylor. No one likes you or your girly pop songs. You’re absolutely PATHETIC and do not deserve to be in the position you are in! We need to boycott HER and throw her off the train. Immediately.

    • Jason P

And you tell her just what she “deserves”.

      • willisben32

Carrie Underwood called Randy Travis and begged to sing with him since Carrie is kinda of a has bin now she needs any news she can get …. Randy Travis said NO!! :)~

        • knoxsouthy

          Who’s carrie Underwood?

        • Katie

So? Carrie Underwood isn’t anything special either. It’s all about “status” in our society anymore and who is going to win “awards”. We need to all pull our heads out of the clouds. Music isn’t a competition.

    • anonymous

good point, her songs are always about losers – “you were home coming queen, I didn’t get asked to the prom, etc. etc”

    • TimeTravelerCNN

Ouch…. I think they are both in the positions they made for themselves.

    • willisben32

      Taylor is the best!

    • Nat Mirotta

Try it! and you’ll certainly be ripped to shreds. She deserves everything in her life. Taylor is a Good woman. Just because you do not like her, does not mean no one else does.

    • Samantha

      Amen Katie! Boycott it is.

  • Sandra Parrish

How could she turn down Randy Travis! He is country music & she should feel honored that she was asked to sing with him. Even as a kind person she should want to help him. Evidence has now proven…she is a selfish spoiled brat! To me her music is NOT country music! Never rally liked her but now I really dislike her!

    • Jason P

Well I’m sure she “Never rally” ….ok I’m sorry I couldn’t get past how you spelled really. I’m guessing it wasn’t a typo and you actually sounded it out which is hilarious.

      • Sandra Parrish

It was a typo Jason P…duh. You must have a lot of time on your hands. lol. *cough* …mouth the word –> Loser!

        • knoxsouthy

I do have a lot of time on my hands. So much so that I can take the time to spell check words I’m uncertain about. Doesn’t change the fact that I admire swift for not wanting to prop up a fall down drunk.

          • Sandra Parrish

I wasn’t talking to you & didn’t ask for your opinion smart ass!

          • Idle Time

‘Swift’ should be capitalized as it refers to a proper noun. Furthermore, ‘fall-down’ should be hyphenated as both words join to describe a specific kind of drunk. I, too, have a lot of time on my hands.

          • Eric Nuckols

She used the word spelled correctly in the same sentence. It was obviously a typo. You trolls have no shame.

      • hsmom3

HA HA HA….really funny when you try to be the grammar/spelling police instead of a human who has most likely made a typo or two himself! Really funny now, huh Jason?
What’s that? I can’t hear you….you must be choking on your own words…..

    • Linda Suitinli

so, just because she didn’t want to do a duet with him she’s a “selfish and spoiled brat”? you don’t know her reasons. And plus, we never get to hear him asking her to do a duet and suddenly it appears that she didn’t want to sing with him. come on! who knows if this is true or not.

  • Jason P

Good for her. Glad some women in the music industry actually care about how they’re perceived by the general public. Granted I don’t listen to her music as I’m not a 13 year old girl; but I respect her decision to stay away from Randy because he isn’t a good influence.

    • Jessie

You really are just as heartless as she is. Goes to show that there really is cruel people in this world. People can change and rise from their past, but you’ll always have a cold heart.

      • Jason P

So people can change just as long as they’re not me because I’m not a millionaire fall down drunk trying to sponge off an up and coming star.
I doubt you proofread anything you write otherwise you would see the absurdity in what you’ve written. It’s not my job to forgive anyone. My forgiveness means zip zero nada.
And if a female star decides she doesn’t want to perform with someone who doesn’t live a lifestyle she approves of so be it.
Swift is doing herself a favor by not hanging out with people like Beiber, Travis, and Cyrus.

        • anonymous

          you are jerk…JP

          • johnjones

oh but Taylor sucks too…good for Randy, there’s a ton of alcoholic country fans that will support him..

          • knoxsouthy

And that’s the great thing about America. I can disagree with their lifestyle and they can still be successful. Think I’ll stick to joel and john.

          • knoxsouthy

Yes I am. Fortunately I have family, property, money, and a 10lb c0ck to get me by.

        • Anthony Maurizio

You Jason P are a straight up idiot. Go drive into a brick wall.

      • Donna Austin

I don’t believe Taylor is being heartless. She influences thousands of young girls. To have her endorsing a substance abuser is not what anyone wants her to portray to her young fans. It was like Rihanna endorsing Chris Brown. It’s the wrong message to send out to kids.

        • anonymous

          who cares what you believe…really

          • TimeTravelerCNN

You cared enough to respond to her :)

        • NotMyMonkey_NotMyCircus

Agreed. It’s much better to be a fickle boyfriend-switching, bed-hopping tramp; and then whine in your music about how bad THEY are.

    • hsmom3

      REALLY?
She parades around in shorts that are barely long enough to not be considered a belt while singing about all of her ex-boyfriends…
The only thing that Taylor cares about is money, and if that means that one of her publicists tells her that there might be negative press from pairing with Randy Travis, then she’s just the spineless loser to give in to them.

I truly hope that Taylor Swift never ends up in a place where she needs a helping hand….I’m not sure that anyone will be there to offer it. She will be a very lonely person before too long. Bubble gum pop and tweeny appeal only last for so long….

      • TimeTravelerCNN

Have you actually seen her shorts? They are high waisted and on the long side. And after you are done looking up pictures of her long shorts perhaps you could do a search for the charity work she does, You know like donating millions of dollars to help youths.

        • hsmom3

Her shorts are ‘on the long side’???REALLY? I have a few sisters who would disagree with you.

You are in another dimension…yes, I have seen her shorts, that’s why I mentioned them….DUH!

          http://i.huffpost.com/gen/1569656/thumbs/o-TAYLOR-SWIFT-570.jpg?6

          http://www.eonline.com/eol_images/Entire_Site/2014015/rs_634x1024-140115093804-634-Taylor-Swift-jr-11514_copy.jpg

Perhaps you would like to enjoy the Taylor short shorts Bing show here :http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=taylor+swift+shorts&qpvt=taylor+swift+shorts&FORM=IGRE

Again, she only does what’s best for Taylor…not what might be best for others or what’s best for someone else.
It’s always good FOR TAYLOR to help ‘youths’.
as If her song choice hasn’t proven it yet, she’s all about Taylor….should we really expect anything different from such young talent?

          • Linda Suitinli

And how exactly do you know she does everything for herself? Probably because she donates books to libraries so more children can read and have good books to read, and she opens up her own education center in the country music hall of fame last year, which she donated about $4millions for it, so children/youth can learn about anything right?

          • hsmom3

And I’m sure she and her name were plastered all over every inch of what you mention. Yes, she does ‘good things’ but it’s all in the name of ‘good PR’….for Taylor.
If she were really doing those things out of the goodness of her heart, and for all the right reasons….she would do them anonymously and no one would know that she was behind any of it.

          • Linda Suitinli

“it’s all in the name of the PR……if she were really doing those things out of the goodness of her heart and for all the right reasons…she would do them anonymously and no one would know that she was behind any of it”? LOL. First of all, she’s famous okay, and when you’re famous, no matter what you do, it ends up in the news, article, etc… SECOND OF ALL, we HARDLY knows about she does these things, and you know WHY? Because she does it in PRIVATE, the only times we know about her doing these stuff is for example, when she visits sick people, the patient’s family and friends posted it online, NOT Taylor. She doesn’t post her “good deeds” on her instagram, facebook or tweet about it, like other celebrities. Whenever she does good things, SHE NEVER put it on public, it’s always other people who does it, out of their happiness that she helped them.

    • Jon

Sir you are no fan of his if you think Randy Travis isn’t a good influence. Sure he has made some mistakes but there are a lot of people who consider him one of their childhood heroes, myself included.

      • audrey

Randy Travis is a great singer song writer Taylor should be honored if he did ask her just she makes me sick

    • NotMyMonkey_NotMyCircus

Here’s to hoping you never stumble, Pharisee.

  • pvevans

I used to like her. She seemed pretty down to earth and she seemed to actually CARE! But if this is how she treats people she is just a heartless b**ch.

Now if she had OTHER personal reasons for not wanting to do a duet with him, then I could understand. If he did something personally to her to make her not want to be around him then that is understandable. BUT to just say no because of your image is pretty low. I think THIS is going to destroy her image more then anything.

    • TimeTravelerCNN

Perhaps she doesn’t want to associate, personally or professionally, with someone with so little respect for everyone he endangered with every DUI. I don’t blame her for keeping him at arms length

    • Linda Suitinli

You can’t really believe everything you read as we’ve never heard of him asking to do a duet with her.

  • lon saylor

Not wanting to sing with Randy Travis. Are you kidding me? So what if he has made mistakes. Doing a duet with him would flaw her image. Get real. You’ve got no business in the music industry if you feel that way.

  • Bruce

This is total BS and anybody who swallows it has to have a two digit I.Q. As shown by some of the comments.

    • anonymous

I suppose you have a genius IQ? Bruuuuuccceee? Why don’t go play on the highway and keep smoking whatever it is you have.

  • Chasmania

Taylor Swift = Bubble Gum Country Music. Screw her and the ‘Hello Kitty’ moped she rode in on.

  • Randy L

Taylor is more business gal than a christian … show some respect, girl …

    • TimeTravelerCNN

Because nothing says Christian & respect like multiple DUIs. There is no excuse for driving drunk even once and any respect he earned in the past he’s lost along the way.

      • You’er kidding me right?

Got that stone you want to throw? He made mistakes. Bet you have too. How would you like it if they brought out in the light?

        • TimeTravelerCNN

Of course I’ve made mistakes but his kind of mistakes regularly kill people and he didn’t learn from the first one.

          • hsmom3

But maybe he learned from the last one….and that’s the one that we should be concerned about.
Pray that he has turned away, confessed and will not commit that sin anymore…and then embrace Travis! hate the sin, not the sinner!

      • Heave a heart

Oh, you’re a Christian are you? LOL! Heard this pal?>> “Let him with no sin cast the first stone”. All fell short. “Jesus came not to condemn the world but SAVE. I’ll take a nice drunk over a Holier than thou politically correct pharisee ANY DAY. Also in case you’ve forgotten: Christians aren’t under law but Gods GIFT of grace. All humans fell short and there was no one righteous. No, not a one. Have a blessed day, thank the Lord who has made it for you.

        • You’er kidding me right?

BRAVO, well said Have a Heart

        • TimeTravelerCNN

I didn’t say I was a Christian and there still isn’t any excuse for driving drun

          • Ima Christian

Why don’t I help you out? I appreciate your not saying your a Christian, since your NOT. That has been misused enough. Also you are slinging excuses in the worst way, for yourself and your downfalls ,there is no excuse needed for Mr. Travis but most people are kind and those here have extended that kindness out to Mr. Travis. You say you have made mistakes, boy, that was almost an admission of your being aware that sort of prevents you from being above ANYONE else, and someday, you will learn, not to keep flapping your big mouth with moronic statements regarding your excuses like you were making better mistakes. Your an Idiot. I’m so thankful my colleagues and I will never face you and instead are given intelligent opponents whose arguments are worthy of study so as to reassure critical findings are indeed, correct. You lose Pal. Mr. Travis is suffering from a disease. It is rare, but sadly, there are selfish people like who have avoided contact with those who are inflicted by a disease and many times, as per history shows, it caused people to die. So you see, your attitude. to agree in keeping someone with a disease at arms length is best, deems you as selfish and you my friend, are a coward. Mr. Travis has not killed anyone while driving intoxicated, so that is a moot point. Go hit the books, start with the Bible, then bone up on your medical science, you will need an education far beyond the 5th grade level you display here, Good luck proving top medical researcher wrong in finding alcoholism to be a disease resulting in its being reclassified. OR Shut Your Fat Mouth. Whining little coward. God Bless you I will Pray for your soul. Walking away from those in need shows contempt for your Maker. Its a Bible verse. Look it up moron.

        • Linda Suitinli

And how do you know that Taylor is a “pharisee”?

  • hsmom3

Taylor doesn’t care about country music….and all of those whose talent brought it to the mainstream…like Randy Travis…..she only cares about Taylor. You would think that she would realize that she has enough money and enough teeny boppers that follow her, (who wouldn’t care if she sang a song or two with some guy named Randy that they never heard of) that she could give back a little bit. Nah….she’s just too self absorbed. Does she really wonder why guys dump her?

    • TimeTravelerCNN

Bitter much? He’s a country legend but he’s also a repeat DUI offender and there are plenty of other country stars he can leverage rather than dragging her down with his next DUI. Give back a little bit?? Seriously? She donates millions of dollars to worth while charities – associated with country music and non-country music related charities.

      • hsmom3

She only gives when it benefits Taylor and her career.
No, I’m certainly not ‘bitter much’ LOL, but thanks for asking!
Taylor only seems to care about herself and what benefits her career, which is why ‘she donates millions of dollars to worth while (sic) charities, but won’t help a singular human being…
…and since you are apparently in the same ‘genre’of Taylor, you most likely won’t understand ‘helping someone else’

        • Linda Suitinli

And how exactly do you know she doesn’t help a single person? Just because she doesn’t want to do a duet with him doesn’t mean she doesn’t help a single person.

          • hsmom3

Ok, you are right. Feel better now?
If you listen to her music and watch what she does, the average person will realize that Taylor Swift is an immature, self centered brat.
I’d be willing to bet that most of her donations are PR moves suggested by her management staff and probably not of her own thinking.
Taylor Swift is not important enough in my life to warrant wasting anymore time going back and forth about her….I’m done….good night!

          • Linda Suitinli

Yes, her music is sometime “Immature,” but since when does writing about your feelings become “Immature” when other artists are doing the same thing too? However, I think that she “immature self-centered brat” because of the way she cares about her fans, friends and family, and also how nice she is to everybody. Many people who know her describe her as an “old soul” so yeah I think she’s pretty immature you know 😛

        • Ima Christian

You go girl! She donates= tax break

      • Ima Christian

        As does He pea brain.

  • wayne

she better hope hard times don’t fall on her and need a helping hand, of coarse randy and all would still help her.

  • JoeKlip

I stopped listening to country music when the like of Taylor Swift show up on the charts. It more like pop rock than anything country.

    • TimeTravelerCNN

So you stopped listening when Garth game on the scene in the 90s?

      • hsmom3

Yup…Garth doesn’t have a lot of talent either…he brays most of his songs and can’t really sing. Plus he’s pond scum for leaving his faithful wife and his children who supported his music for the likes of Trisha Yearwood…ugh. (yes, I deleted the adjective of moose-ass before her name)
I haven’t bought anything he has made since he left his wife. I think he’s a real dirtball!

  • You’er kidding me right?

For someone that is in her twenties, and still writing songs as if she was 16, She already has a GROW UP problem. Singing with Randy will hurt her image? What does she think this is doing. Carrie sang with Randy, and was HONOERED to do so. Only one who got hurt was Taylor. Hey Maranda, Carrie, Faith , Reba you want to sing with a LEGEND? Screw that little self absorbed BBBBB.

  • Kimberly Bolletino

I’m sure she has some baggage in life too ,,,, ridiculous

    • You’er kidding me right?

How about dating BOYS when she is supposed to be an adult. She loves rich 18 year old boys, and chastises them in song. I would really want to date this woman/ girl /stuck in teenage.

      • Linda Suitinli

Yes, she dates, what’s the problem with that? Is it wrong to date until you find the right guy?

  • You’er kidding me right?

Like Tracy Lawrence said “YOU FIND OUT WHO YOUR FRIENDS ARE”

  • rob_wh

Much hate toward Taylor and the “rumors” haven’t even been verified. A little surprising, but then, we all know that when you’re on the top of your profession, many will do anything to knock you off. Taylor didn’t get to where she is because she lacks talent. She’s grown into a real woman and her songs have changed in accordance. Hating her is not only childish, but outright stupid.

Randy is my 2nd all time favorite country singer and he’s had real problems much of his life. Because of those, Taylor may have told him no thanks, but really, that’s not something we should be very judgmental about, considering the two also have tremendous differences. I’m not certain, though I like both, I want to hear any collaboration between them, as Randy is an over-powering baritone and Taylor is a nearly soft voice much closer to a tenor. Seems like an odd match to me. I’m just gonna say I pray Randy makes or has made a full recovery and hope Taylor keeps being the excellent performer she is.

  • NotMyMonkey_NotMyCircus

When did Taylor Swift start singing country music?

    • audrey

u mean when is she going to start too sing country music

  • Michelle

Taylor Swift wouldn’t understand Legends back in the old days, George Jones wasn’t an angel in life but he is an honored singer or was and it was big new when he passed. Taylor Swift goes from boyfriend to boyfriend and thinks she’s better than everybody. It’s really her loss, because it was amazing when Carry Underwood sang with him really beautiful versions of Randy’s songs. I liked one song from Taylor or 2 and they were Tim Mcgraw and Tear Drops on My Guitar. What happened to that Taylor Swift?

  • Michelle

Miranda Lambert would do a nicer job than Taylor Swift also.

  • distachio

I gotta bridge to sell all of you.

  • Kimberly Holmes

She can’t even sing she should be in pop music not country shes a disgrace to country music.

  • Samantha

I agree with Katie. If it were not for Randy Travis country music and music in general would not be what it is today.
