  • Ramona Singer of The Real Housewives of New York has had a rough year. But she is about to spin all that pain into gold with a tell-all book.

Ramona Singer watched her personal life play out in tabloids and on reality TV when her 22-year marriage to her husband Mario fell apart. Singer caught her husband with his mistress in their own home.

“I think once I became a ‘celebrity’ … and I was in the public eye – I think that bothered him,” Ramona Singer says now. “There would be moments where he would be very warm and loving, and then other moments that he was really vicious and mean, and would bully me. It was like, ‘who are you?’ It was scary, it was very scary.”

Singer outlines what happened in her new book Life on the Ramona Coaster. She also opens up about her dysfunctional childhood, her parents’ abusive relationship, and her life as a Real Housewife.

Ramona Singer kicked Mario out in July of last year, but announced it in August.

“I tried to make my marriage work because I have strong values and I believe that people make mistakes,” Singer said at the time. “But you reach a point where you realize the other person isn’t putting in as much effort as you are. And I reached my breaking point.”

Mario was seen out on the town with his mistress, and tongues were wagging.

“Mario’s behavior is embarrassing to me and my daughter,” Singer said. “I’m not some pushover. I’m a strong, successful woman. I need someone who is going to treat me with love and respect.”

“He begged for forgiveness and was crying,” Singer said. “We had a 22-year marriage here and I said, ‘You know what? I am going to look at the bigger picture. People are entitled to make a mistake.’ ”

Now, looking back on it all, Ramona Singer is in a good place. Andshe has a way to think about it all that makes each day okay.

“I don’t recognize who he is today,” Singer says. “That’s the only way I can heal with it, because when he’s across from me, he’s not the man that he was two years ago. He completely changed.”

“It just didn’t seem like it was happening to me and him,” she says. “He became another person. He’s another person.”
