Ubisoft today announced that it is bringing a new Prince of Persia game to mobile devices later this month. Titled Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame, the game will be available on iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android devices on July 25 for $2.99/£1.99.
The game is an updated version of Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame, which was released for MS-DOS back in 20 years ago. Instead of a straight port, Ubisoft has updated the game with new graphics and controls designed for touch screens. In addition to the visual upgrade, the game itself has been updated for today's gaming standards. The game is now less trial-and-error based and features a new combo system has been implemented. It also features leaderboards, achievements, and (of course) Facebook integration.
Though The Shadow and the Flame may not be the Prince of Persia game that fans were waiting for, it could, at the very least, be a sign that Ubisoft is beginning to consider the IP once again. With the main story of Assassin's Creed having mostly run its course, it might make sense for Ubisoft to bring back Prince of Persia for the new console generation.
