Presidential Winner Predicted in State-by-State Analysis
[ Life]

A University of Colorado (CU) analysis of the 2012 U.S. Presidential Election predicts that Mitt Romney will win the election in November. The model used for the prediction is one that has correctly predicted all presidential elections since 1980, including George W. Bush losing the popular vote but still winning the election in 2000. [Details Here]

“For the last eight presidential elections, this model has correctly predicted the winner,” said Michael Berry, political science professor at CU. “The economy has seen some improvement since President Obama took office. What remains to be seen is whether voters will consider the economy in relative or absolute terms. If it’s the former, the president may receive credit for the economy’s trajectory and win a second term. In the latter case, Romney should pick up a number of states Obama won in 2008.”

The prediction model uses an analysis of economic factors to determine an outcome for each of the 50 U.S. states. It was developed by Berry and his fellow CU political science professor Kenneth Bickers. Two of the factors the model takes into account include state and national unemployment numbers and changes in real per capita income, both of which affect Democratic and Republican candidates differently.

The study has predicted that President Barack Obama will only receive 218 electoral votes, far short of the 270 needed to win the election. It also predicts that Romney will receive 52.9% of the popular vote.

“The incumbency advantage enjoyed by President Obama, though statistically significant, is not great enough to offset high rates of unemployment currently experienced in many of the states.” said Bickers.

The Berry and Bickers study will be published in this month’s Political Science & Politics. An update to their analysis using more recent economic data will be coming in September.

I wholeheartedly hope the predictive ability of this model is robust. Romney-Ryan 2012! As an aside, I find it rather comical that the the Democratic Party – the “party for women” – inserted Slick Willy Clinton as a headline speaker at the DNC. This in spite of the fact that he is, without question, among the most infamous womanizers of our time. Is it just me or does something not add up here?

    • http://aol.com Patti

I was wondering why Bill Clinton is the spokesman for Obamaand womens rights. You are right, he is the biggest womanizer of all time, along with Ted Kennedy. The democrats have alot of nerve standing up for womens rights with these guys as role models….PLEASE . Doesn’t anyone consider MORALS anymore with the candidates and their endorsers?

    • karen carpenter

Atleast they womanize with women unlike the republicans. You should be so proud of clint eastwoods contribution to the republican party shoulsnt you? He sure talked for a long time but made no sense whatsoever. Is clint a womanizer to? Do the arithmetic folks before and let he without sin cast the first stone!

      • Jennifer

Wow maybe you should use your time to get an education and maybe then you could produce an intelligent response. Not all Republicans are rich. I’m not and I’m a proud Republican. Nor are all Democrats poor. Your party affiliation is based on your beliefs and values not bank account size. Obama in my opinion is the worst excuse for a president in history. I pray that Romney is elected president. Would be nice to have a president who is proud of what this country stands for again. In God We Trust.

        • Ashly

Couldn’t have said it better Jessica!

  • Fibh

If mitt gets elected…. I guess the women of American will have to go back to the good ol clothes hangers for abortion.

    • http://Fibh Joe

If u believe the line about the hanger, maybe your mamma should have thought of that!!!!!!

      • Anita

First of all, people in this country should not be opening their legs and having sex like having an apple around every corner, probably some values should be teach instead of wanting free abortions after practicing unsafe sex, and oops, getting pregnant. iT is a big deal and a BIG respinsability to have sex. ASSUME IT!!!!

        • karen carpenter

I would rather pay for an abortion than bail out a: bank and then give them huge bonuses to take extravacant vacations.

          • Ashly

I’m glad you would rather murder a baby…

        • Zack

OK, then push for sex education in school. At the rate this country’s youth is going, you should push for this to be taught in middle school, and for condoms to be freely distributed to any teenager that may want them. Emphasize safe sex, because you aren’t ever stopping teenagers from having sex. It isn’t going to happen. If you really think it is, then I envy the happy, fluffy-cloud world your head must be in.

    • http://aol.com Patti

If everyone saw Obama 2016 – NO-ONE in their right mind would vote for him.

    • Jim

Taking a life is murder, get with it we are in the age that we all think we are intelligent. Taking a life is murder and that does not bother you, I’ll bet you are against Water Boarding. WOW, I feel bad for you.

    • Boa12

Please convince me why MY tax dollars should pay for your birth control and abortions. Let me illustrate my point. I enjoy rattlesnake hunting so, according to your line of reasoning, you are responsible for helping me to buy a pair of snake-proof boots to prevent my being poisoned when I carelessly step on a rattlesnake. In the case the boots don’t work, you are responsible to help pay for the anti-venom and hospital procedure. Your part of the bill for the boots and procedure is $100. After all I have a right to hunt rattlesnakes don’t I? Please send me a check. If you refuse to do so I will label you a “snake hunter-hater” and deem your actions a “war on snake hunters.” DO YOU GET IT? I would never in a million years expect you to help pay for my boots. Also, my recommendation to you (and DNC speaker Sandra Fluke) for birth control is an aspirin – hold it between your knees.

      • karen carpenter

Who cares….. are you creating jobs mr. Republican. Let god deal with sins and take a back seat. Why would a republican need help paying for anything? Republicans think they are god and have more money than god.

    • RockyMtHi

What a huge LIE and DISTORTION that women would lose their reproductive rights under a Republican President. Roe v. Wade secured every woman the right to an abortion nationwide. The only way that could change is through the Supreme Court, and the only way that could happen is if attorneys (not presidents) present a legal argument worthy of being heard to overturn the previous Supreme Court decision, which was based on the Constitutional Right to Privacy, not the right to an abortion. Now, do you think any Conservative President will lead a group of attorneys to legally challenge an American’s Right to Privacy??? I don’t think so. And every GOP President since then, has not even tried, including the most Pro-Life of all, George W. Bush. So relax ladies, Romney isn’t going to try either. Believe me, he’s got better things to do.

What the GOP objects to, is having to use tax payer $$$ to pay for it. If you want to have an abortion, do so, but don’t expect me to pay for it.

      • karen carpenter

Oh hell you republicans can pay for it, label it as charity, write it off on your taxes (oh wait you dont pay any) and concentrate on creating jobs. Maybe you can donate a little of that money to foster careprograms.

        • Boa12

Your comments are devoid of substance and sense. You have drunk the liberal media Kool-Aid evidenced by your assumption that all Republicans are rich and that the rich should pay for everything. Try thinking for yourself instead of mindlessly subscribing to everything you are programmed to believe. You lack of depth to your thinking scare me!

        • Ashly

Karen I’m pretty damn sure I pay taxes like crazy and no I don’t have more money then half the country it’s called middle class but I also don’t sit on my ass and do nothing and expect everyone else to pay me either… You REALLY need to get some education

    • Sheila

Yep, that’s what the democrats would like you to believe. The truth is that Romney is pro-choice, he just doesn’t feel that government should be paying for said abortions. He’s not making them illegal, he just thinks that places like planned parenthood should not recieve government assistance. They can carry on through private donations and fundraising like so many other non profit organizations. On the other hand, you can have a president who favors 2nd and 3rd term abortions, as late as for a third term (ie:full term) baby coming out the birth canal. At some point, it’s just plain murder.

    You gotta see Obama 2016.

    • Whitewalls

The only people that have seen “2016″ are those who want their decision to hate Obama is reinforced. If you believe that Denish D’Souza is an unbiased journalist you may want to spend some time reading his bio and journalist history. The movie is littered with false accusations about the president and administration. Also take some time to read the reviews and how blatantly false his story truly is. Isn’t it curious to you as a viewer of the film why there have been so few appearances of D’Souza on talk shows, even Fox News. He has been so highly discredited for the complete untruths he has littered throughout this film. At least when Michael Moore makes a movie it is recognized as “legitimate”. You can say it’s because of the ‘liberal media” but just look for reviews from conservative’s they also question D’Souzas lacks any attention to the truth.

  • lynne

What is wrong with some people. If you want to lay around on your lazy butts all day and have the government, ie. you and me, pay for you, stay with Obama. Otherwise, realize the only way to return to your previous lifestyle, and perhaps keep part of YOUR paycheck, get rid of him NOW! And I don’t believe we will return to coat hangers.

    • karen carpenter

Or we could just bail out banks over and over again…

  • Rick

While I find the predictive analysis interesting, I’m not convinced that Mitt Romney will win. Our society is really changing, some of it good and some not so good. I think that both men are good people just with different agendas. I don’t believe that Obama is out to destroy American nor do I believe Romney is out to destroy the middle-class. People seem to think the President has the final decision on everything so we should blame everything on him. Even if Romney wins, things will not change overnight. It still is going to be years before we see a true economic recovery. People need to decide if they are going to cry about what has happen or figure out a way to stand on their on feet and move forward whoever wins. I’m pretty sure those who are unemployed the day of the election will be unemployed the day after. There is no magic stick to fix this mess. Both parties are to blame. As far as the health care issue, what person doesn’t want to have an easier way to take care of there medical needs? I think most people have no clue what its like to have a insurance company deny you care because the treatment is too expensive. Everyone deserves proper health care regardless of there economic status. We pay enough taxes in this country, we just need to make sure we are holding our officials more accountable how they utilize our money.
Ultimately, I believe our country is going to vote for the person who has a vision that is very clear for the middle class in this country. Hopefully, the results of the up coming debates will tell us who that really is going to be.

    • Boa12

If you haven’t already done so friend, please take the time to see “2016” and then ask yourself if you feel the same.

      • Sheila

I agree. Go see 2016. I am a conservative and saw it and really liked it. I didn’t find it to be a ‘scare’ movie at all. I actually like Obama better now as a person, but it solidified for me that his dream is not the American dream. The purpose of the US constitution was to limit the amount of government in our lives. That is NOT what Obama stands for. I also fact checked the movie afterwards and found four items, that while not incorrect, were subjective. But the movie was well done.

Telling someone to watch 2016, in a situation like this, is like me suggesting you watch Fahrenheit 9/11 and claiming it as an unbiased piece of media using nothing but facts and highly trusted sources. It is biased. Both are biased. It’s like listening to Glenn Beck and Limbaugh, daily, and claiming to be simply an open-minded patriot, when in actuality the crossover audience of those two are nothing more than right-wing extremists themselves.

    • Allen

      Well said.

    • karen carpenter

Democrats will appreciate your comments but republicans won’t. And you are abosolutely right about taking years to fix the mess that a republican made for us. Why didnt Bush speak for Romney? #1 he is too busy being rich and laughing at all the ignorant people that voted for him #2 he is an
embarrassment to the nation and the republican party and you sure dont hear anybody talking about what a good president he was now do ya?

      • Ashly

I liked bush and think he did a hell of a lot better job then the joke of Obama has done

      • james

Karen, I wasn’t happy with everything President Bush did, but after 4 years of Obama, I sure miss him. You’ll see on election day a landslide win for Romney. Maybe you’ll question your blind support for Obama by then

  • Jim

We can’t afford 4 more years of Obama. The man had never had a real job and it showed. He is incompetent and now he has to go to the old white guy,Clinton, to bail him out. Barack you are 3 years to late.

  • Allen

This model is nonsense. It was created last year with backtested and optimized data. It has never actually predicted a single election. They could have come up with a model that was correct since 1980 and predicted Obama winning this year simply by choosing different variables. People have been using this same method to create and sell trading systems for years.

    • Boa12

Care to enlighten us by suggesting any of the variables that might be included to predict an Obama win?

      • Allen

I wish I could, but that’s what computers do well. But here’s one. Latest polls show Obama with a 5pt lead in Ohio. So chances of GOP losing Ohio and winning election. Pretty much zero.

        • Boa12

As I presumed, you have no idea what you are speaking of regarding your reference to “choosing different variables”…empty words just like Obama. Oh, I was expecting you’d refer to the “hope and change” and “gimme more time” variables which if inserted in the study would definitely predict an Obama win. Also, please invest the time while concocting your comments to ensure they make sense (i.e., …”chances of GOP losing Ohio and winning election…). Obviously the time you invest in making your comments is akin to the amount of time you invest in studying and choosing which candidate to support. Finally, don’t be so content about the poll you mentioned. While I admit it is disheartening, it is merely a poll and by no means ensures an Obama victory. Your “anointed one” and company still have two months during which time they must continue to maintain their facade. That may not be a problem, however, given they’ve managed to pull it off for four years now. Please wake up man! You too I would encourage to see “2016”…however, even presented with the facts, I assume you would not consider changing your convictions about your hero Obama. That, my friend, is, without question, scariest and most alarming of all. Unless of course you are a socialist. Speaking of socialism, at what percentage of taxation do you begin to change your views (if you do)…50, 60, 75%? I’m curious.

        • james

Allen, you are giving the election to Obama way too soon!! Romney will win big in November! Ohio included!

  • Harold R Krisher

Agree with yous, that Obama couldnt run a lemonade stand cause look what he did to America!!!!He wants USA.down the pipe to the sewer of communisium and dictatership. He is a Muslim and Freek!!!Think,,Think you Demic-rats while it is still FREE,because if that guy in Washington gets back in it wont be.If he wants to rent a LIMO on our tax dollar to go out and have Larry give him a BlowJob,,,He should be IMPEACHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Ashly

Get a job and work for it and maybe you would have money to, rather then calling people who don’t want to GIVE you what THEY HAVE EARNED greedy

    • karen carpenter

So you know god do ya… were you posting on here when bush was digging our graves. What the hell did you expect obama to do on four years what it took bush eight to make.

Lets get the real truth and I mean the Truth that is really available on this banter between what President Bush did or didn’t do and what President Obama did or didn’t do. During President Bush’s terms the Democratic Party had the majority in both houses (8 years) and then had the majority when President Obama was elected (2 years until 2010 when the nation woke up to what was being “changed” to supposedly help the nation. The President does not hold all the power in this nation so long as the Constitution of the United States is upheld by all elected officials at the Federal level. No, it is the combination of all three of these areas – President, House of Representatives and the Senate that are involved in the issues we have come to. The majority parties during those ten years are what got us to where we are now – not just the Presidents themselves. They definitely contribute but the Democratically controlled years are still perpetuating, even more so under President Obama’s watch, policies that are moving us “fundamentally” away from the Consititutional driven answers along with proven guidelines that the Founding Fathers setup under that document. They knew that taxation overly used would burden and enslave the citizenry from having the resoursed necessary to enjoy Life, Liberty and Happiness. They knew that enslaving the citizenry with over regulations takes away from Liberty. And there are many more that could be mentioned. Yet, this is now the opposite cours being taken and even shoved onto the citizenry by Executive Order not through the halls of Congress. I believe that absolute truth does exist on how things should be and know it can be found and stood for even though others will speak with vile language, partial truth mixed with a majority of untruths, “fundamentally” begin to edge this nation away from the Republic that was fought for and prayed for by our Founding Fathers and Presidents like Abraham Lincoln. Just remember that 10 years of the last 12 the Democratic party has been the majority votes and now includes the President as well. Who really needs to take some accountability instead of blaming it all on one person?

      • james

Wow Karen! You simply don’t know what your taking about! The blame Bush thing is so old and pathetic. I’m not saying he didn’t start it but what has Obama done? If you can get past the liberal hacks, you would see your guy has been a disaster! Obama has spent more money we don’t have in 4 years than all the previous presidents combined! Please stop with the blame bush game. It has NO traction anymore. I guess that makes me a racist now huh lol

  • Harold

I admire Chuck Norris and he has ducks in a row,,Keep it up Chuck,we need some one with some sense!! Thanks

  • luca

Obama gave the same speech at his convention 2008 as he did 2012 last week. His base was not smart enough to catch it. He didn’t even attempt to make a new speech. He realizes his base is too stupid to know the difference and he’s too lazy to practice another.. He didn’t perform his promises from 2008. He’s 4 yrs too late. Are the American people going to make the same mistake?

    • karen carpenter

What did bush promise is a better question? The economy was in good shape until a republican made his oul buddies richer. You shouldnt even be able to vote republican unless you make over 250000 a year. That would eliminate wannabes like you from commenting. Wete you republicans proud of ole clints speech? Lol talk to a chair idiots!

      • Zack

I think you are in need of some research, on this matter. The republicans were in full control of Congress (as majority) from 1994-2000, then for 2 years, one Republican (Sen. James Jeffords) declared himself as switching to the Independent Party and caucused with the Democrats, giving them a 1 head majority for only the Senate, and only until 2002. For the next 4 years Republicans, again, had full majority in both. It wasn’t until 2006, that the Democrats took majority in the House and Senate (largely because the voters were tired of the Republicans running the country into the ground) and since 2010, Republicans have had the House and Democrats have a slight advantage in the Senate.
I do enjoy your confidence used to disguise your ignorance. Unfortunately, on the internet, you can’t make up facts and expect no one will check up on them. Any more fun stuff you want me to prove you wrong on?

Obviously your brain is fill with Obama media propaganda, and the Democatic Party lies and 1/2 told stories. do some real research not just what you want to see.

    • JG

So, when can we expect Obama and his supporters to start taking responsibility for HIS 4-year term? Everytime I hear a Dem debate with a Repub… it’s always starts off with some reference to what GW Bush did or didn’t do. ENOUGH ALREADY! Obama-the anointed- came in nearly 4-years agon and he was going to fix all this. So, why is it when I do a search on this page I get about 12+ hits for Bush… and low-and-behold, all of those original comments come from Obama-backers?!?! Take some responsibility already for having done nothing but give more hand-outs and more money to people who will gladly accept the _continued_ hand-out!

      • Case

You dumb asshole. It starts off like that after he’s accused of losing jobs or making debt within his first year. There are processes that have to be followed, you can’t just repeal bills or solve a problem overnight. We are now out of Iraq, we’ve brought down the man who brought down the twin towers, there are millions now who have access to health insurance that did not previously, and jobs are on the rise. We also never fell into a full scale depression. I’d say that’s more than ‘nothing but handouts and money to people who will gladly accept it.’ I’d also like to point out that the largest demographic of those who collect ‘government handouts’ are those residing in red states.

For the record I stand to pay a lot more taxes under Obama, and I don’t really care. It’s my duty as a patriotic citizen to want to see our country do the best that it can. Romney has failed to mention a damn thing he’s going to do in detail. In fact he’s mentioned plenty of contradictory things he’d like to do, pandering to everyone he can whether he plans on pulling through or not. He’s a great business man, but a failure in terms of someone eligible for commander in chief.

    • Mattyice4893

I’m sorry but you appear to be moronic. The political party has nothin to do with finding bin laden? Even if that is a valid argument, while Bush was in office sadam was found and captured alive. Also Obama did not bring are troops home, he just removed them from Iraq, and placed them into combat situations in Afghanistan instead.

Nikkol….um ya…PARENTS should be teaching and being responsible child sitters rather than putting them in front of the TV simply because its easy and the TV then acts as the babysitter. PBS is not at all one bit hurting for funding. Big Bird is very well supported. Also….if you care that much about PBS then donate the 8$ a month! Moreover, Elmo is and has been the number one selling toy for infants, toddlers and children for YEARS!!! Sesame Street as a whole is well off. Additionally, if you children NEED the education from PBS there are plenty of Sesame Street movies out. But one. however, the parents should spend time with the child teaching them to use their imagination, how to count, learn the alphabet and so on. Or if the child attends day care, then those persons can educate the children WITHOUT tv.

    • Jprydan

Take into account that with in Obama’s first year in office he promised to keep the unemployment rate below 8% however failed. Also within his first year he added an additional 5 TRILLION to the debt….as of today…he has racked up a total of 15 TRILLION in debt. That is more than Any other president. Yes, he like every other president going into office had prior issues to take care of…a mess to clean per se. However out of the full 508 promises Obama made during his initial campaign, he only kept 37%…..that’s awful!!!! His stimulus plan ended up giving tons of under serving persons bonuses and raises! Lets not forget that when Obama came into office 32 million people were on food stamps…now 47 million people on food stamps!!! Foreclosure a are at an all time high–6 million to be exact!! He wants America to become a nuclear weapons free vulnerable place while every other country is continuing too add to their collection of nuclear weapons! He raised the health care premiums by 9%. He rejected Canada’s proposed keystone XL pipeline construction that would have created tens of thousands of jobs which too would have brought in nearly a billion barrels of oil daily to the US. Additionally, he pulled a permit from West Virginia coal mine that cost 250 American jobs! So what good has he done for America?!??? What has he done to help you?!

Ok team Obama. I wish you could live in a country like what your disgusting president is creating here. You would run from team Obama if you would only educate yourself a little. Smile all you can now because there are enough smart Americans who can’t wait to vote Obama out.

  • frog2012

I think the Democrat versus the Republican is a mute point in this election. It is about us and the direction of the best country in the world. We have terroists that are raising their children to hate the west and growing them to kill. This president has raised our debt so high that our credit status has been lowered. The debt is so great that if you stacked $100 bills on a 3×3 pallet 6 feet high, you would need to fill 6 foot ball stadiums to pay off the debt. We will always have debt, but do think that we should pay for the people who chose to do nothing is ignorant. This is for real, you will feel the impact of these decisions and it’s your children and grandchildren that are at the mercy of your country. What this president has done is forced you to share the candy that you went out and gathered during trick or treat, and divide it up amongst the total number of houses in your housing edition. You will share the candy with those who spite you and choose to do nothing. It is scary and we will see how it turns out in November.

    • Ashly

      Agreed!! And well said!!

  • Robert Musser

All Obama worshipers want nothing more than revenge on a free nation, free hand-outs from other hard working American’s pockets threw taxation and regulation laws, You are determind to break our country for you own self gradifaction and once you have succeded you will regret it, your chidren will regret it.

  • Charlie

Dems are a JOKE!! They think the working class should take care if the lazy ass people who don’t want to work. It’s called taking from the have’s and giving to the have nots!! That’s not what this country was founded on.. If you want something get off your ass and go work for it!!!

    • Yeye12335

Even though your completely ignorant statement needs no answer to revoke it’s stupidity, I will still do so. You are saying that the working class is supposed to take care of the “lazy ass people”. So you are telling me the single mom who works nine hours and rides a bus for two more hours (that’s an 11 hour day) who then has to come home feed her children and go to bed knowing that while she is working to give them a future they are deprived of a motherly figure all on welfare is not working hard!? Your stupidity is only matched by your brashness and vulgar tone.

      • Ashly

I’m pretty sure his comment was directed at the “single moms” who have several kids from several dads and don’t do anything to try to better their lives just live off the system, if you can’t afford to care for your kids stop having so many use BIRTHCONTROL and no murdering. A baby you are preg with is not birth control or just keep your legs closed, in addition why should someone be able to milk the system and not even try to work when others are out their pulling their weight? Yes some need it to get on their feet that’s what it’s for not to use forever

    • mkc

Since the first time I came to America around 15 years ago I saw the stamps food and unemployment checks thay people received, so I am pretty sure is not new about this situation. I don’t think is new for you either is not just from four years ago. All this economic and social issues have been for decades and infortunately is really difficult fix it 4 years or even 8 years.

You clearly get your opinion of Romney from the liberal media. Before you get all wrapped up repeating what the media hacks are saying about Romney, look at our fearless leader of the last 4 years. You don’t have to look very hard to see how fake and manipulative Obama has been. He is disgusting and I can’t wait to fire him this Tuesday!!!

        That post was for Joe

  • Marcus P

The fact of the matter is plain to see if we all can take “self” out of the equation. To make this out to be a racial issue shows ignorance on many levels. Sure we all have differences I’m opinion… But by now race as you can see is definitely not an issue anymore. We as a free nation under God have an obligation to uphold the principles and morals that make us the greatest country in the world or has that mentality slipped through the cracks over the years and been replaced with greed n callousness? I for one have been completely ashamed by some of the things I’ve been hearing throughout the last elections. Lets try to weigh the FACTS about each candidate and really push towards a better America… “# team get it right or die trying” is what we should say because this is our future. Also, we as people who claim to have reasons to bash the other candidate should first examine our own lives because no one is perfect… Period! God’s word is proof of that. We all have fallen short in the sight of the Lord. Now I’m a firm believer in the faith but I cannot dislike this one for this or that one for that… I let the facts speak for themselves. The presidency should not be a popularity contest but rather an outward expression of how we as Americans feel this country should best function as well as be represented as a free nation.

  • http://shopfuscha.com Yvette

This issue is about the buffet tax and the promise the republicans made to the 1% that they would never have to pay thier share. I was them to pay as much as me and that would erase the national debt. Cutting cost never helped during Both Bush eras, Clinton nor Obama. Let the rich pay or according to Romney we can see our taxes go higher while the rich enjoy more tax breaks. If that is what Americans want then they are either racist, ignorant, or just plan blind to the issues that lay before them. if this isn’t a racist issue how come I never heard such violent words flung at Bush when this country fell under the recession during his time as president and remained the same after he left. We elected him twice after 9/11, after the housing bubble popped, after upside-down mortgages, after Katrina, after the stock market crash, after two meaningless wars, after banks closing thier doors… Need i say more?

    • Ashton

Communist?? Are you retarted.. Please explain how Barack oboma’s plans for our country lead to communism. Intrigued .

      • Ashly

Wow is all I can say about your post! Doesn’t surprise me at all your vote will go to Obama! You are a disrespectful ass to use a medical condition someone may have (no I do not) who reads this as an insult to someone have some respect for people with special needs and educate yourself and grow the hell up before you post some thing so disrespectful and insulting on the Internet

        • http://AOL Nancy Quinn

We’ve already had 4 years of a “do-notning”. However, if elected in November we can “look forward” to becoming the last Third World country on the planet of which Obama will look forward to be the “world leader”.

    • Frank

If the only way Obama can win is people voting because they still hate bush and compare Romney to him this country is screwed. The economic numbers are clear and although a nice well spoken man, Obama has to go!!!!

      • Pete

Ill explain that for you Frank, since your so intrigued, a president that signs every anti gun bill that is put before him, clearly doesnt believe in our constitutional rights…basically in his own words wants to disarm all America including us lawbiding citizens, to prohibit us from defeanding ourselves, and putting all our security in the hands of our government, thats as communists as it gets…WAKE UP AMERICA BEFORE ITS TO LATE!!!!!!

        • Pete

Sarry Frank that statement was not for you…..instead for Ashton….

        • Zack

          *sigh* Pete…
“Communism is a revolutionary socialist movement to create a classless, moneyless, and stateless social order structured upon common ownership of the means of production, as well as a social, political and economic ideology that aims at the establishment of this social order.”
Being against carrying guns does not equate to Communism. Communism is a buzzword stuck in your head by extremist conservatives that want the public to associate Democrats with the most negative things they can find some kind of minor link to. Obama was declared a “communist” simply because he feels the rich should have to pay rates along the lines of the middle and lower classes. According to Limbaugh-logic, this means that the rich will become poor because the extra 10% they would pay in taxes equates to the entirety of their fortunes. You’re jumping onto an obscure (and incorrect) little ideal that Obama wants and basing your entire communist standpoint on that? Please, spare our country your ignorance and do not vote. Do not fill out that ballot and mail it in. You don’t know what your talking about and an ignorant vote, is more dangerous than just randomly selecting your choices on the ballot.

          • james

Zack, do you feel like Obama really wants a strong America? You don’t have to look very hard to see he doesn’t. We could debate all kinds of issues all day long but here is the trump all. Obama is a disgusting liar! He is not a leader! Enough people will see that on election day! Thank God!! Sorry to use such foul language with the G comment. That’s a whole nother Obama issue isn’t it?

    • Marc

Yvette, what you aren’t mentioning (or realizing) is that the top 10% pay 59% of all taxes in America! What you are requesting is for them to pay more?!?! Here is the best analogy I’ve seen:

Suppose that every day ten men go to a restaurant for dinner. The bill for all ten comes to $100. If it was paid the way we pay our taxes, the first four men would pay nothing; the fifth would pay $1; the sixth would pay $3; the seventh $7; the eighth $12; the ninth $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59. The ten men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement until the owner threw them a curve.

      0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 1 + 3 + 7 + 12 + 18 + 59 = 100 cost of dinner

“Since you’re all such good customers, he said, I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by $20.” Now dinner for the 10 only costs $80.

The first four are unaffected; they still eat for free. Can you figure out how to divvy up the $20 savings among the remaining six so that everyone gets his fair share? The men realize that $20 divided by 6 is $3.33, but if they subtract that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would end up being paid to eat their meal.

The restaurant owner proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay under the same assumptions: Now the fifth man also paid nothing, the sixth pitched in $2, the seventh paid $5, the eighth paid $9, and the ninth paid $12 leaving the tenth man with a bill of $52 instead of $59. Outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings. “I only got a dollar out the $20,” complained the sixth man, pointing to the tenth, “and he got 7!”

      0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 2 + 5 + 9 + 12 + 52 = 80 reduced cost of dinner

“Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar, too. It’s unfair that he got seven times more than me!”

      0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + (-1) + (-1) + (-2) + (-3) + (-6) + (-7)= (-20) savings on dinner

“That’s true,” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $7 back when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!”

“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison. “We didn’t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor.”

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night he didn’t show up for dinner, so the nine sat down and ate without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They were $52 short!

And that, boys, girls, and college instructors, is how America’s tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up at the table any more.

  • Harold

I’m glad to see some real Americans out here,Anyone wanting to put Obama back in,,, you let us know how you feel later when this man leads us,,and he wil!!!to a communist Nation and Dick tatorship very soon,,,thats just what he wants,,Can’t you educated fools see something that is so plain to see??Wake Up Before It’s To Late.I just don’t believe there are so many IDIOTS in this Country!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Zack

Harold, you need to stop listening to Rush Limbaugh and actually find out some factual information about our country so you stop looking stupid on the internet. Please tell us how curbing the out-of-control medical costs in this country, creating a tremendous number of jobs since the recession (that Republicans created) and getting our country back into being tolerable to the rest of the world constitutes a path to communism. I’m sure you found yourself witty in your misspelling of “dictatorship” too, but please look up the definition of these words before spouting them off like a brain-dead parrot. This country, in its current structure, can never fall into communism, but Limbaugh and the like started crying like spoiled children as soon as Bush lost the election. Let’s face it, Democrats could have put an Appalachian, inbred mutant on the ballot and it would have beat the incumbent party’s best candidate (and McCain was very good, before he conformed to the right-wing garbage he needed to agree to to secure his selection in the primary.) If this is all above your head, I’ll summarize for you:
“You don’t know what you are talking about. Education seems to have eluded you.”

      • msintek@frontierincentives.com

I understand your comments but do you know how condescending you sound when addressing the fears of some of the other peoples postings. We all agree with what you say you want addressed, but disagree that Obama and his idealogy can fix the problems. It’s agreed that Obama inherited a mess but have you forgotten that the Democrats were part and parcel of the problem and the Republicans went along with them. Democrat’s voted for the War, they did lead the way for loans to unqualified buyers, passed legislation without bi-partisan approval without reading the bill and could not pass a budget. Do you really think goverment is capable of lowering health care? It needs a complete overhaul, agreed, but it’s naive to believe that non effecient corrupt goverment can give us what you desire. Democrats seem incapable of cutting spending and THAT IS THE REAL ISSUE.
I guess what I really do not understand why you seek a socialist society? Have you been to Europe? I have traveled extensivly. It takes 9 years for a buinsess to start up in Italy from the regulations and years to complete highways that we could complete in a couple of years. In Greece families are forced to live together with no hope of having thier own home. In France they are angry because they must work two years longer and protesting. Its as if they cannot live without a ruling class. Is that what you want? The rich are very rich in Europe and the rest have “just enough”…is that okya with you???/

        • Zack

Thank you for responding intelligently. I sincerely appreciate that. I se far too little of that sort of thing on the internet when discussing politics. Yes, I agree with you on the healthcare issue you mentioned. It is in DIRE need of a full overhaul, but lobbyists in this country are, sadly, the lawmakers, not the puppets that sign the documents, and lobbyists rule with money. There is far too much money behind stopping full-out reform and that’s why it has to take such small steps. The only reason the healthcare issue came up so recently was because the Republicans were trying to get the Supreme Court to declare Obama’s plan unconstitutional, because they lost the vote and couldn’t stop it themselves. The health plan was passed years ago and it made compromises to ensure it got the votes needed to pass. Socialized medicine, with a private option for those that can afford it, is the only way to control medical costs here. Especially with all the patent laws on drugs. It takes at least 5 years before another company is allowed to produce a generic copy of some brand name drug (if I’m incorrect, then the the time is even longer than that, maybe 7-10?)
Regarding the war, Congress was lied to. There wasn’t any clear evidence that Hussein had anything to do with 9/11, nor was there any clear evidence of the reported WMDs, yet these were the claims made to get the favor to allow declaration of war. Which wouldn’t have been so bad, if it really ended with “Mission Accomplished” (remember that faux pas?) It didn’t end there and we’ve lost thousands of soldiers to a conflict we declared was over, years ago. Yes, this got money into the hands of the soldiers and their families, which one could argue stimulates economic growth, but the money always goes into someone’s hands when the government spends and if the budget is a concern, I’d wager a budget expense of roughly a quarter of the country’s budget warrants review and downsizing. I do believe we are too far in to simply drop everything in the middle east and get everyone home, but only because I have a conscious and most the problems we are fixing (as far as I’m aware of) are problems we caused. I could very well be misinformed on this, but speaking with a number of military people who sit on both sides of the political fence, this is the information being fed to them.

      • Ashly

Zac as far as your comments about the health care you have NO CLUE what government run health car is like at all!!! I hope like hell Obama is voted out and this is over turned!! My oldest son has a rare syndrome called prune belly syndrome (look it up as I’m POSITIVE you’ve never heard of it) 50% of children born with it DIE before the age of 2 my son is 4 he has had MANY surgeries thanks to our (costly) health care that many other PBS children in countries with government run health care can’t get, I speak to other prune belly parents daily who can’t get what my son can because of their health care, I will continue to pay out the ass for my sons medical care and be HAPPY and GRATEFUL to do it so he doesn’t end up like the boy in Canada who was just denied a kidney transplant because the statistical rate of survival with PBS is to low for him to qualify screw that money means NOTHING when it comes to my kids life!! Educate your self!!!!!!!! I hate to think of where out country would end up if we’re stuck with another 4yrs of this nut job we have right now

      • james

Zack, you obviously don’t want to acknowledge ANYTING Obama has done as president. If you were able to look at your guy with out your liberal goggles on you would be ready to fire him this Tuesday like the rest of us. Romney is winning this thing in a landslide! Even the liberal polls will show this by election day

  • Harold

I fought for freedom of our great country like many others,,but if Obama is back in I will leave this Country as it will never be the same!!!!Enjoy Socialism,,because I’m NOT!!

    • Pablo

Bye. I’ll respect whoever wins, because they were elected by the people. God bless America that we can do that instead of just make Harold happy.

    • Karin

      See yah!
Where are you going to go? I have lived in 4 other countries, I still consider this to be the best but we do NOT have it all figured out and plenty of coutries do things far better than we do.
I am the daughter of an Air Force Col who fought in Vietnam and a wife of a Col as well and I find it ironic that the military is so against socialism when everything we experience on a base is socialistic. Subsidized day care, housing allowances, free medical (some of which is asinine- like the free boob jobs, invitro and lasik for family members)are only some of the examples. Most of my military friends are so against giving a helping hand to people in our own country but they do not have a problem giving a helping hand (for the last 10+ years) to other countries where we are trying to build their infrastructure. Let’s take a good look at ourselves and stop blaming others for all that is wrong around us. I am not thrilled with either candidate but I am not blaming Obama for our countries financial problems. If you notice other countries are experiencing the same thing, and he is not their president. Wake up. If really think Obama will ruin our country and you still want to leave… I will help you pack !

  • Harold

Zac Is about as Brain dead as you can get,,If Gay Man Obama gets back in I’llgrant you you will not want to show your face,,,,Because you are as Gay as he is..America don’t need those kind ,,Obama has downsyndrome asnd sure is begining to show!!!!!!Wake Up America!

  • Scott Senator

I’m so tired of wingnut websites who actually publish absurd preductions like Obama receiving only 218 votes…….It will be Romney in the popular vote but Obama winning 277 electoral votes…..I wonder if the republicals can block everything for another 4 years and then LIE about it. Goodnight Wingnuts !!

    • james

It’s time to open up your eyes liberals. Whether you want to see the truth or not, Obama is a complete disaster as president. He fooled a lot of people in 2008 but enough people have been paying attention. Romney gains every day in popularity. The Obama machine can only go so far with the constant attacks on Romney. It’s becoming more clear every day the republican challenger will win this election with 300 or more electoral votes.

  • http://elkwood77 Roy

Say what you want about Romney, but he believes in God and doesn’t hide it. This country I served for over 20 years was founded “In God we Trust”, not take god out of everything in the name of separation of church & state. When I took my military oath, and when serving on a jury, it ended with so help me God. The founding congress would open each session with prayer, because they believed in God, something Obama clearly does not. He has covered up anything in the White House that relates to God. A man of God would not do that, nor would he support gay marriage, homosexuals and abortion on demand. I look forward to having a President with moral values. God Bless America!!!

    • lindsaylove

you are aware that the mormon god is Lucifer, correct? you better be sure of the evil you’re so quick to get rid of before you usher in you obviously know nothing of, sir. i’d read up on the things they believe before you compare it to Christ or God. they have some corrupt, horrible teachings that are NOT of God. the things you outline are the only things you die-hard indoctriniated ppl that affiliate themselves with political parites think of. abortion, gays, and homo marriage. please, there’s a LOT worse going on than that, that is only a side effect. the fact is that this nation has forgotten God, and people like you have the balls to consider themselves wise when you HAVE NO IDEA OF WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT!! get your head outta your ass, sir, and you might be able to see things a bit more clearly.

  • lindsaylove

all you people sound retarded arguing about the Democrats and the Republicans. you are retarded for aligning yourselves with either one of them. you are feeding right into this exactly the way you sleepwalking zombies were intended to–fighting amonst yourselves for a candidate that nobody remembers nominating for the position in the first place. mindless sleepwalkers have no idea that you all have been hoodwinked, tricked, bamboozled, fooled, conned, deceived, shammed, LIED to. this “election” isnt what you think it is….but of course, you’re a republican/democrat. you know everything.

  • lindsaylove

not one of you have any reasons why the man you support should be in office—all you have are reasons why the other man shouldn’t. don’t you see what the problem is? all you cattle get ready for the slaughter house. this is your last wake up call. the end is near.

  • Shelley2

Can I get some open minded opinions on this Issue?
(Sorry this is so long, but it is important to me)
I don’t even like politics, simply because it is exactly that: Politics!!!! But I need an explanation or a better understanding of this particular Romney/Ryan Tax Plan —- and a sufficient answer that Is not danced around (Keep in mind I am an independent Voter) To be able to feel good about our vote, I think most of America needs to understand this first.
The Romney/Ryan Tax Cuts of 5 Trillion dollars: I feel like the reason there are sooooo many???????? And not a better explanation is because it is truly based on?????? Or hypothetical’s…… I believe they will cut out loop holes and deductions (Which is also a ????? but even if they do) how they will get the revenue that off-sets or pays for the tax cuts are the issue? They believe that with cutting taxes this in turn will create job growth and employment. With more people working and paying taxes this will provide the revenue to pay for the tax cuts. —-But aren’t they lowering taxes??? —Which is less revenue….  & what if it does not provide the employment #’s they are hoping for? (I understand a lot of our deficit is from the mortgage meltdown & Bail-Outs, however- a majority of our deficit is also from the Bush tax cuts and the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan) Wouldn’t a tax cut help with spending…..? And not job growth? American’s put more money in there pocket, which will help the economy and they will spend more……  (I get it) —–But aren’t we banking on that (hopefully) the tax cuts will create enough jobs that will off-set to pay for the lower taxes? Seems pretty risky, how could you not increase the deficit with this objective? Or say that you will not? I guess we won’t know?  If the upper class will be paying less in taxes compared to the middle class, how is this growing the middle class? The upper class should pay at least what the middle class has to pay, ethically they should be paying more —- What am I missing here? Don’t you think that getting out of Iraq/Afghanistan will give us the money to create the jobs we need in the USA? And taxing upper class appropriately? It is always easy to point the finger when you aren’t making the hard decisions…. We should leave the world better for the next generation? Can bush say he did that? Will Obama be able to say he did that? Will Romney/Ryan be able to say that?
    That is all!!!!

    • dave

Jobs are a by product of a succesful business venture, funed by capital at risk, managers with skin or personal libility[money],time ,long hours, great ideas, sales and marketing and quality product or services and the market decides if the product and company is successful if so and more production needs more empoyees and machines.
The expansion of the economy is and the number of new taxpayers both investors, managers and employees is not static. You error is that you view the taxable potential as static.Socialist do not like this model because it is irregular and not as predictable as their control freak central planner model. However the central plan model with the government picking winners and loser is not reliable because you cannot force the market to buy product especially when the product is designed by politically correct invention.
Your problem is that you want to control the outcome without your personal skin in the game or a personal risk for success or failure.
If you have a good idea,a little cash, an ability to sell others on be investors an employees you might win and get to pay taxes.
Greater revenue is produced by more tax payers and at lessor rates some will be inclined to risk there own capital for a chance to win.
This is not an orderly process and require enlightened selfishness. No business owner measures success in the number of employees but in profit.Government measures success in the number of employees, paying no tax, waste and how big it becomes and how much it can control.
Jump in with an idea you might produce something.
Marx actuallyhad contempt for those who produce no product.

      • Linda

cutting taxes for peoples personal income is one thing, cutting it for businesses is another. Cutting the taxes of a CEO of an insurance company for example that makes 20 million per year won’t make more jobs. Cutting the taxes of the insurance company might, but I doubt it. Get it now? Cutting their taxes will only make them richer.

  • The end is near

But some tribal leaders in town for the gathering say the president and his staff have failed to follow through on the bold promises he made as a candidate and later as president.

Robert Porter, the president of the Seneca nation in Western New York, said in an interview with the Caucus that Mr. Obama had failed to purse a legislative agenda that would help empower the American Indian nations and improve the economic situation for residents.

“The administration is very easily co-opting us with lofty promises of supporting the nation-to-nation relationship but then not following through,” Mr. Porter said. “We need to have support for meaningful tribal economic empowerment.”

Mr. Porter’s tribe has clashed with the administration over legislation passed last year that banned the direct sales of cigarettes through the mail. The Seneca nation had been an aggressive seller of cigarettes by mail and denounced the legislation as a means of crippling economic activity on American Indian reservations.

A news release in March from the Seneca nation accused Mr. Obama of “deliberately betraying” American Indians by signing the legislation into law.
