It may sound like something from a raunchy teen movie–the one where a group of horny boys discovers their teacher is a stripper/porn star on the side–but a California woman knows just how real the story is, and she recently lost an appeal in court because of her past.

Stacie Halas says she never participated in porn while she was teaching at her Oxnard middle school, but only took jobs during certain times of the year after relationship issues left her with money problems. However, in an age when everyone over ten years old has a smartphone and porn is increasingly easy to access, the videos surfaced while she was employed with the school. When administrators found out, she was promptly fired. They feel her past will impede her ability to affectively teach her students now that word is out.

The Commission on Professional Competence thought so, too, and denied her request to get her job back.

“Although her pornography career has concluded, the ongoing availability of her pornographic materials on the Internet will continue to impede her from being an effective teacher and respected colleague,” Judge Julie Cabos-Owen said.

Administrators say part of the conflict stems from the fact that at the beginning of one of the videos, Halas mentions the fact that she’s a teacher. Jeff Chancer, the school’s superintendent, said Halas’ decision to “engage in pornography was incompatible with her responsibilities as a role model for students.”

Millions who will one day become teachers are working their way through college. Many are employed at an escort service giving illegal extras to pay for the high costs of tuition. Careers would be ruined if in the future their secret was discovered.

She should become a politician or a banker or…. Those are socially acceptable porn professions….Being poor without a decent job and forced to do the most embarrassing acts is shamed, not the society that degrades human survival through degrading labor in the absence of decent jobs. I wonder how many teenagers are forced to prostitution due to lack of employment! Which is worse: stealing people’s money through organized structures (what bankers did and then got bailed out with taxpayers money to give themselves $millions in bonuses for doing such a wonderful job) or resorting to porn for survival? The school should keep her and build a course around her conditions for stimulating the students minds about social values and economic forces in the market economy. She engaged in true capitalism….

Maybe she could get a teaching job in Nevada and work at the Bunny Ranch on the side. That way she’s legal.

Is this a judicial panel as in an appeals court or an administrative panel of the CA school system.

Unless bound by legal contract this is discriminatory behaviour and will eventually be overturned in court.

She is not a convicted felon and this activity was legal; wages and taxes were paid. This is equivalent to any number of less than broadly socially accepted activities that until recently were discrimnated against, illegally and immmorally. A strange twist.

What about the students that found this on line. They can’t get on those sights without stateing that their adults. Shouldn’t they and their parents be charged with something?
