  • Pinterest announced that it has updated its developer site to make it easier for people to build their own Pin It buttons.

There’s a simple widget builder that lets you create buttons/widgets to add to your site or app. You can quickly grab code for the Pin It Button, the Follow Button, the Board Widget, the Profile Widget, and the Pin Widget.

“Remember,” says Pinterest’s Lauren Frederick. “The Pin It button is the best way for your business to get discovered on Pinterest. With just one tap, people can save things they like from your site, which helps even more people find (and repin!) your content on Pinterest.”

Pinterest is encouraging sites to stop using unofficial Pin It buttons and using the official one.

“The official Pin It button increases your reach—and also gives you automatic updates, better analytics and technical support from our team when you need it,” says Frederick. “Plus, it’ll help us give Pinners smarter recommendations from your site when they’re looking for similar stuff on Pinterest.”

The company also reminds you to follow its brand guidelines and use its colors and text.
