  • Pinterest has launched an updated Follow button for brands, which comes with a pop-up dialog that shows a preview of the brand’s latest pins, giving people a chance to check out what your Pinterest account is all about.

This should make it more encouraging for users to follow brands that actually pin interesting things. Also the new button makes it so that people don’t have to leave your site to follow you on Pinterest.

“People visit many different websites each day, and it can be hard for them to find and follow those businesses back on Pinterest,” says Pinterest’s Jason Costa. “Helping people find the latest Pins from their favorite brands and publishers on Pinterest is an important way for them to discover stuff they like, and we’re hoping to make that easier today with an updated Follow button.”

“It’s easy to add this button to your site. It’s just a couple of lines of code, which you can copy and paste onto your pages in a matter of minutes,” adds Costa. “If you have the original Follow button in place, you won’t have to do anything to get the new version—it’ll just work!”

The new button is available in the Widget Builder section of Pinterest’s business site. You simply enter your Pinterest URL, your brand name, and click “build it”. It then generates the code for you. Pretty simple.

Pinterest has been adding other helpful features for businesses, such as a revamped version of its analytics offering, but it’s about to get really business-centric with the roll-out of do-it-yourself promoted pins, and improved search.
