  • Pinterest announced the launch of a new “Pin It” flow to make saving things faster and easier.

“At Pinterest, we’re building a save button for the Internet because we think there’s a better way to save than leaving browsers open, creating infinite bookmarks, taking screenshots on your phone or emailing yourself links,” a spokesperson for the company tells WebProNews. “With more than 50 billion Pins already saved by people over the past five years, these improvements have increased repins by 3% in early tests.”

“The new Pin It flow cuts clicks to save in half,” they say. “Additional updates also include making it easier to find and create boards, and an improved Pin selector as people Pin from around the web.”

This feature was built by Albert Pereta and Cesar Isern from the Icebergs team Pinterest acquired last summer, along with other members of its “save” team, I’m told. The same team also recently built editing tools that allow Pinners to copy, move or delete many Pins from a board all at once.

Pinterest said when it acquired Icebergs, “The technology will not be integrated with Pinterest, however César and Albert’s experience in building systems for the discovery and organization of objects will be incredibly relevant as they help build out Pinterest.”

And now we’re getting a better idea of what they’ve been working on.

As Pinterest moves further and further into the realms of advertising and ecommerce, making it easier for people to collect the things they’re interested should only help.

You can see results from a recent study on Pinterest and its effects on purchases here.

Earlier this week, Pinterest shared some growth stats as the company just turned five. According to those, 2/3 of pins come from business sites.
