Phillip Phillips Puts American Idol Before Kidney Surgery

  • “American Idol” semi-finalist Phillip Phillips isn’t as concerned about his kidney issues as his doctor, who told the 21-year old last week that he must undergo surgery as soon as possible. Phillips says it can wait until the finale of the singing competition, which airs next week.

Recovery time for the procedure he needs is at least six weeks, which is why he’s putting it off, but TMZ reports that his color isn’t good and his appetite has decreased. Also, the medication he’s taking give him dry-mouth, which is taking a toll on his performance (although he’s done well enough to get this far on the show).

Producers for the show are working with Phillips and his condition to allow him as much rest as possible, but that means he’s excluded from some of the promos afforded to semi-finalists. Phillips is determined not to miss anything important, however, and plans to finish out the finale before doing anything health-related. While that news is a relief to his fans, they are also worried about his well-being.

Everytime I hear Phillip Phillips my heart pounds
