Phil Robertson, the controversial star of “Duck Dynasty” who was recently suspended from the show, showed off the Christmas gift he bought for his wife in a photo that his granddaughter posted to Twitter.

“After 50 years of marriage Papaw Phil finally gave Mamaw Kay a wedding ring for Christmas,” granddaughter Sadie Robertson tweeted earlier this week.

Robertson and his family have been the subject of many headlines this month after an interview with GQ was published and quickly went viral. Robertson spoke his mind on several topics, including homosexuality, and his comments were not taken lightly by members and supporters of the LGBT community. Soon after, A&E made the decision to suspend Robertson indefinitely from the show and issued an apology to viewers. It’s not clear at this time whether the family will continue on with the show without the patriarch.

“It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus,” Robertson said in the interview. “That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical…start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”

Recently, a petition was started to have Robertson reinstated on the show, and a link to the petition was disabled on Twitter after some confusion about whether or not it was spam. However, it’s back up under the hashtag #IStandWithPhil. The petition already has over 250,000 signatures.

Phil Robertson’s comments may have offended some people but he has the right to free speech as we all have. Sure we should not intentionally say things to hurt individuals. However, Mr. Robertson is more concerned about where a person spends eternity, in Heaven or Hell.
It is true we are all sinners and deserve to go to Hell but that is why Jesus came. He came to show us who God is and how much he loves us. Jesus taught us about God’s Love, Grace, and Mercy. He taught us how to apply these acts of love in our daily lives. Then Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice for all of us but only those who accept him as their Lord and Savior will be saved and live for eternity in Heaven with Jesus.
Mr. Robertson is not the one who identified homosexuality, murder, adultery, or stealing as sin, God did. Mr. Robertson just quoted the Bible, God’s Book, just like we might quote another authority. As one of God’s messengers, Mr. Robertson’s job is to present God’s message and it is up to us to receive or reject it.
Me and my house chose to accept it and try to live it. No we are not perfect just saved. Are we sinners yes but we try to live our lives according to Christ’s will even though we are not always successful.

Praise God for people like Mr. Roberson who are not afraid to stand up for God no matter what the pressures of the world might be.

Where will you be standing when the last Trumpet sounds. America seems to be going down the same path that many other prosperous countries, like Rome did 2000 years ago. Most Bible scholars agree that the US will not be a major factor in the end times because of our unrepentant ways.

    God Bless us All
