  • Peaches Geldof, the 25-year old daughter of musician and activist Bob Geldof, passed away this week and was found at her home in Kent with no visible signs of death. Now, police are investigating what could have caused a seemingly healthy woman in her mid-20s to die so unexpectedly.

“The death is being treated as non-suspicious, but unexplained, sudden death,” a Kent Police spokesperson said. “The local coroner has been informed and a post-mortem is expected to be carried out in the next few days.”

Geldof, the mother of two young children, was a journalist and television personality whose larger-than-life attitude often made her a fixture in the media. Bob Geldof released a statement on her passing, saying the family was devastated.

“Peaches has died. We are beyond pain,” he said. “She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us. Writing ‘was’ destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever. How sad that sentence is.”

Although there is no apparent evidence of drug use, there has been some speculation in the media about whether or not Geldof died of an overdose due to the photo of herself and her mother that was posted on her Twitter account just before she was found on Monday. Paula Yates died of a heroin overdose when Peaches was just eleven years old.

Husband Thomas Cohen released a statement as well, saying his wife was adored and won’t be forgotten.

“My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons. I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts everyday. We shall love her forever,” he said.
