Peaches Geldof, the daughter of activist and musician Bob Geldof, was just 25 when she passed away under mysterious circumstances in early April. Authorities could find no evidence of drugs at the scene of her death, and when a postmortem exam failed to identify conclusively what killed her, an inquest was opened. According to The Times, the young mother and television personality died of a heroin overdose.

Tragically, the same drug reportedly killed her mother, Paula Yates, who died in 2000. Yates was grief-stricken over the hanging death of her then-husband, INXS singer Michael Hutchence, and refused to believe it was a suicide. Hours before Geldof was found dead, she posted a photo of herself with her mother on Twitter.

While local authorities have not announced that heroin was the official cause of death, The Times reported that they had it on good authority.

“The results will be announced by Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fotheringham during a brief hearing in Gravesend, Kent, this afternoon,” read a press release.

Bob Geldof released a statement after word of his daughter’s death began to spread online, saying the entire family was devastated. Early reports say that Peaches had admitted to drug use in the past but gave it up after she became a mother, and her last posts to Instagram were videos of her young son getting ready for bed. He was reportedly at her side when she passed away.

“Peaches has died. We are beyond pain,” Bob Geldof said. “She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us. Writing ‘was’ destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever. How sad that sentence is.”
