Back in June, about two weeks before the first season was even released, Netflix announced that it has renewed Orange is the New Black for a second season. This week, we learned that production has started, and filming has commenced.

I would imagine that we’ll be seeing more, but so far, two new set photos have been shared via the OITNB Facebook page. Here’s one with creator Jenji Kohan hanging out with Taystee, Poussey, and Crazy Eyes:

Only two hugs allowed in the visiting room, but #OITNB creator Jenji Kohan will make an exception for Taystee, Poussey, and Crazy Eyes! Follow us for all the updates from the set of Season Two!

And yesterday, we saw this one as the start of production was announced:

Whip your hair(net) back & forth, production has started on #OITNB season 2! Stay tuned for news and updates!

In related news, Orange is the New Black has added a new cast member for the second season. Deadline reported that Lorraine Toussaint will play a character named Vee, who is described as “a longtime street tough who ran her own drug business, recruiting children to serve as runners.” Additionally, actresses Danielle Brooks, who plays Taystee, and Taryn Manning, who plays Pennsatucky, have been promoted to regulars.

No official release date has been announced yet, but Netflix did say that Season 2 will debut in 2014. Fans are already hungry for more.
