I absolutely recognize that video podcasting (whatever it might end up being called) is going to be a big deal.

I was a Rocketboom fan long before most people had heard of it, but I still couldn’t get too excited about vidcasting vlogging v-casting whatever (Adam Curry thinks it should all just be called podcasting, whether it’s audio or video). I have limited time to sit and devote myself to watching these shows-even good ones-but I can listen to audio podcasts while I’m doing something else.

Today, I discovered a video podcast (I give up, I’ll just call it video podcasting until something gets finalized) that provides a very quick but very comprehensive and very entertaining tutorial on how to produce a video podcast (for Mac users). The tutorial is the first video podcast from French Maid TV, which I’m sure will attract thousands-maybe tens of thousands of subscriptions. The French Maids are three twenty-somethings named Laura, Eve, and Natalie. They’re clearly proficient in their use of the technology, which is explained in a faux French accent as the trio demonstrate from inside a hotel room where they are dressed as, well, French maids. A lot of guys will find it a technological fantasy come true, even though it’s ultimately very mild PG-13 fare.

But if a black-belt USC international relations magna cum laude graduate, a ballerina, and a wanna-be actress can crank out something this entertaining, there’s no doubt in my mind people will want to watch. Sheesh, now maybe I do need a video iPod. And here I’ve been hoping my Sony PSP would suffice.
