LOL - As you can tell from all the anchor text "names" that people are leaving here, yes, anchor text is very important to you website. BUt also for it to be useful, a site that you leave your anchor text on must also be a "do-follow" site. (Thanks for making this blog do-follow, by the way! - It's appreciated)

I think I've had a good go at anchor text optimization, although I am still a little confused over the homepage split - I usually use an .htaccess to redirect the url of the homepage from something like 'index.html' to the main key phrase that the overall site is looking to capture i.e. 'search-engine-optimisation.html'. However, anchor text is usually linking to the domain name rather than the homepage url - so is there any point in me doing it, even if there could only be a tiny benefit?
