I'm sure they can tell...
they must have fairly advanced tracking built into their code to catch people who click their own links, etc. They have URL channels which means they know what site a particular ad was clicked from. But what site is clicked from if the ad is in an email? None, so they would have a very strong suspicion if not know for sure if your ads are in emails... I would guess though they wouldn't come down too hard on emails that seemed to generate legit clicks. Still not going to try it though...
