SAP

I'm attending an University to learn and understand how technology works. I'm continuously looking for an IT job and I see SAP all the time. Is this the new hot cert. what is it about and how do I go about getting certified? If its interesting enough I will consider getting certified by starting at the bottom. Please give all the info. on this subject.
