Ten Tips for Choosing a Good Domain Name

searching alternative domain names

I quite like this web-site for searching alternatives when the domain name you want is taken: www.domainnamebrain.com. You don't have to download it unlike simtel.net. Not quite sure how it works but i think it's using some kinda thesaurus lookup; seems to pick apart your lookup query and substitue alternative dictionary words.

More tips

Great post Tim. You covered some ground I missed in my blog, like the automatic domain name search programme, which would be really useful.

I also completely agree with you about "owning" names - thats just rubbish. You lease them as you say, and if you don't want to carry that burden for many years, don't bother buying them in the first place!
