Google Maps Takes Another Crack At Real Estate

Makes option more visible, includes rental listings

Google Real Estate

Love Google - this is great. Hopefully Canadian agents will start placing their listings on Google so we don't have to be so reliant on MLS. There's another good story on how online real estate listings are changing at http://blog.buzzbuzzhome.com/2009/11/real-estate-machine-is-us.html

"Will Google integrate this

"Will Google integrate this with iphone?" ...don't you think they'd have it on android first?

Sources of listings ...

Some of the real estate listings returned on Google maps are questionable (ie: the sources?) I prefer to go to sites that specialize in vertical markets. For example, if I am searching for rental listings in Canada, I use the Rent Board of Canada (www.RentBoard.ca). The site has very accurate apartment and house rental listings that they show on Google maps. Even Google can't match the speciality sites -- instead, they should have a short list of such sites that THEY draw their information from.

Use other engines

To the first commenter - use Bing and Yahoo search so that they continue to get traffic and remain viable. The average user who has no interest in AdWords or AdSense will use what they consider is good, which seems to be Google, but I am occasionally running into people who have switched to Bing.

Google makes it's money on

Google makes it's money on the efforts of others.
Often they use information that is outdated and incorrect.

They also hold back payments illegally to support the future of Google.
I'm not talking about click fraud, I'm talking about no fraud, just glitches in their payment system.
So while you starve, they make a profit.
I'm personally owed $9k.

Any lawyers want to make a name for themselves in the newspapers around the world?
I'm ready to start the fight on behalf of us publishers who they are ripping off!

Again, not the click fraud cases, just the "It's my money and I want it now!" publishers.

This is a clear breach of the publisher contract we all have with Google!

adsense issue

Hi, we recently put AdSense to our web page just as a matter of curiosity. We do not think of it as an income (yet), but feel bad about your complaint, since we expect to collect our balance from Google according to the contract. OTOH there are so many nice features from Google for free, that we may consider waiting just a bit longer b4 the actual payment arrives from Google. But yes, you should file them for your $9k

Yep

Getting ready to do so.

We get thousands of dollars in payments every month and have done so for at least the past 4 years. No problems ever that I know of, until now. That doesn't excuse the fact that Google considers the publishers to be independent contractors, which now makes them liable for damages, and court costs, even if their contract says they are not. Don't let those clauses fool you which are invalid in your state (that is if you're a USA publish). I'll guarantee you when this is over, Google will issue a revision to their contracts we all have with them.

Googles real estate search

Googles real estate search is a good idea poorly delivered. Its content is too dependent upon unreliable sources... yes yes, i understand that much of the web can be classified as an unreliable sources, but with so many better and more reliable sources for real estate search, google really brings up the rear in the search for homes for sale. The info is outdated and very limited. It contains tons of old listings and I would guess maybe half of the actual listings. Google should bully the local Multiple Listing Services, hell Google should create the National MLS...perhaps they are the only ones who could pull it off. Hey google, like that idea?
