Online Reputation Management in the Future

Your Kid Could Become Like Elvis to a Later Generation

Great read Chris - thanks

Great read Chris - thanks for advancing this article!

IMHO, context is key. I quite liked Lee Odden's example of unmanageable, untamed musicians and entertainers whose shock value diminishes with the passage of time, and successors who are more than willing to test the waters.

And yet it is conceivable that the opposite of what this article advances might occur, and that things deemed acceptable according to modern standards may become highly controversial in the future. The Internet not only tests reputational models because of the breakneck speeds rumours and missteps can spread, but also because of its formidable ability to archive and recall content for future reference. We are already witnessing a major backlash with regard to sustainability imperatives, and the negative impacts its having on companies and brands who Web audiences have deemed as laggards in the area of environmental stewardship.
