Good for the Gmail team, they deserve the attention since this is a far more superior web interface than any other.

This is a great tweak.
Gmail is the one website I use that is pure function and it has many features which keep my productive.
It's the crud that people keep sending me that causes the distractions.
As to the ads around my email, they really are not a problem for me (going unnoticed 80% of the time) and Gmail's benefits far out way its means of monetization.
I convert all my clients and students to Gmail.

But there's still no way to contact a real human at gmail, like when they make you enter a CAPTCHA to login and it takes 20 hours of trying for a human to get it right (though there's software that can read them for you)
