Haven't Bought A Belkin Product In 5 Years ...
I purchased a Belkin "N" class router in 2005. Price point was excellent and I was quite happy with the product and the customer service/tech support I was given.
However, I soon later discovered that the router's firewall was a piece of junk. I couldn't upload files to my domain host unless I disabled the router's firewall or taken the tech support's advice ... place my computer outside of the firewall to upload files! Ridiculous! I soon discovered that this firewall issue had been an ongoing problem for the past 2 years. Returned the product for full credit and went with a Netgear router where I have NEVER had any issues or problems.
In stores, I've seen sales people try to push Belkin products down my throat or other customers (is there a spiff involved?) but I just gladly decline and move to something else. There are at least a half dozen companies that make similar products to Belkin with better price points and quality.
Now comes this pay-olla story ... keep burning the trust of the consumer. What was once a great success story of a American company that started off making great quality printer cables is now a company that puts out shoddy products.

I create/manage several websites and track visits and today I received traffic from Twitter. It took me a while to jump on Twitter as I didn't "get" it or it's importance. I am now a big fan and seeing the traffic is a big plus.
Feel sorry for them.
It is tough when marketing/sales team has to sell poorly engineered products to keep their jobs. I'm sure the engineers told the marketing folks early on that "these things practically sell themselves!"

You know those sites where anyone can give people a review? Not only do people stuff those with fake reviews but I've heard of some people who do rackeetering by forcing businesses to pay them to not flood with with bad reviews.
