The companies will work together to provide Lotus customers, including Lotus Notes users, new ways to interact with their trusted professional network. Professionals will be able to start web meetings, add business context to e-mail senders, and learn more about collaborators, colleagues, potential partners and prospects through integrated LinkedIn profiles.

Thanks, Chris, for this information. I'm typically on LinkedIn to socially market my safety and security web site and raise awareness for it's products so this is a good thing.
Just the start
This is an interesting development, but is just the start of showing the capabilities of social network integration. In my view, more exciting still will be CRM systems linked to social networks where the customer contacts effectively maintain their own data; plus you can mine the connection for specific details of your customers likes, dislikes, wants, needs etc. This would mean you not only have their updated contact details, but enough rich information to be able to flavour your correspondence to them.
We hope to see CRM integration with our social network for small businesses soon.

for the past 15 years and have not been in a single accident while on the cell phone or not. Blaming cell phone use for people not paying attention to the road is simply a scapegoat. Perhaps in addition to charging higher insurance to dangerous drivers they should also charge danger fees to encourage drivers to pay attention and be safe.
