Great social networking 2009
Hi readers! I personally am currently using:
Twitter
Facebook
Myspace
In that order.
Also check out:
Friendfeed
SecondBrain
(These sites take feeds from the others and aggregate your feeds and activities elsewhere online into one place. Very nice... so they update as the others do.)
There is also tumblr, plurk, identi.ca, orkut, and many more.
Why stop at one or choose or limit yourself? Branch out people: It's about connecting with people, you will meet heaps of new people through experimentation. Each network has a different crowd too. Why not get your fingers into a few different pies for a change?
Happy social networking 2009 people!
we done with your help.

I hated twitter until I came upon twellow. I really don't care what other people are doing, but I joined a group of web dev's that post regularly and have good info. Thanks.

You overlooked Jason
You overlooked Jason Goldberg's SocialMedian that was acquired by German-based Xing in December proving that this market is not just hot, but that it's poised to lead the next interactive revolution.
RE: You overlooked Jason
Thanks for sharing!
Good
Good Information. Happy New year by the way.
nice
Very informative timeline...should do this for more topics!
Social Media Networking sites and Yuwie
The most prominent social media sites like MySpace, Facebook and Friendster, which is a giant in the Asian market, should take into consideration the efforts of its members that made possible their successes at least with some token of gratitude. With advertisers who pays them approximately $20M a month which is a really big amount, I think that these guys should think about giving back a least a reasonable chunk of its revenue or even a small portion of their RSR back to its avid followers. Why am I talking about this? Because there is one social networking site that does it. I certainly would be engaged in signing up for them after knowing exactly how they work and basically because my efforts are paid. I certainly believe that in no time, these solid fans from MySpace, Facebook, etc., will eventually turn its back and look somewhere else wherein they will earn while they socialize. I'm not advocating on anyone's side here. FYI, so you'll know what am I talking about, "click here".
Looking forward to 2009
2008 was a great year for Social Media, thanks for the list.
I can't wait to see what 2009 will bring.
social media
Thanks so much for the great timeline.
Facebook over MySpace, all day.
Social Media MySpace vs Facebook
I'm one of the old geezers and never really clicked with myspace. Haven't really used it, but I had several really young teenagers trying to access my site. From what I understand, Facebook has more business related networking go on. That's the difference I've noticed. Hope we all have a more prosperous 2009.

RE: Social Media MySpace vs Facebook
I've seen plenty of businesses using MySpace as a valuable marketing tool as well.
Social Media and Blogs
I was just surfing by and I have to agree social media has become a very large part of the web today.
One site that has taken in a big chunk of the web this last year and is not full of kiddies and spam is BlogDumps this site has so many features it takes a few visits to take it all in!
You can upload and share videos, music, photos and flash games it's like all your favorite sites Myspace Youtube etc... all rolled into one!
I really like the new High Def video player they have just launched.
They even have their own Instant messenger! I love this site, I guess you can tell.
That's my two cents worth...
Happy new year!
Hugh stuff have happend
What a development from January to December!
Great rundown
Thank you for the great rundown. It's interesting how social media has evolved. I can't wait to see what will come out this year.

Yes
It's mainly high school kids using Myspace now.
It's funny, they started using Facebook because Myspace was getting invaded by "old people" (those 30 and up). Now, Facebook has all the oldies
Uh huh we oldies are
Uh huh we oldies are spreading like a virus!
Myspace
Does anyone actually use Myspace over Facebook anymore?
RE: MySpace
I know some people that do, but a lot of people are using both.
