Biggest Change
I am totally agree with you the biggest change is the deterioration of the sense of community and professional decency.
Obama
Whats Obama got to do with search? Seriously, this is ridiculous.
Great
I like the work.
aquabot
really very nice work.
Ir sounds like Universal
Ir sounds like Universal Search and SearchWiki are the big hitters. I'm glad I looked over this post - it's been out there for a while and I just did not get a chance to read it over.

Google seo
In 2008 Google already become king of Search engines and SEO, and its will even dominate in 2009....
Great article. Yes, I agree
Great article. Yes, I agree we are in the stages on an advertising boom on the internet. However, adsense earnings are down at least 30% from last year. Looks like the corporate execs have their hand in the cookie jar again.

Informed Clients
I have definitely noticed an increase in the number of well informed clients which can onlybe a good thing. It definitely makes it easier when interacting with them and explaining more in depth aspects of the job.

2009
SERP's in 2009 will show more "user voted" results rather than self promoted.
SEO will be more about creating quality content which will be voted for by users.
Link building strategies without user votes of quality content will be transparent to search engines.
aquabot
it is really very great.
Significance of Search
Yes it isn't so much about getting traffic, but converting traffic. This is what it is all about.

See my page on google... What you think about my seo work
MSN
Google may dominate more of the search engine traffic, but many online marketers will tell you that MSN traffic actually converts better
The need for SEO is because
The need for SEO is because google started trends like nofollow on paid links.
personalization
I would definitely say that in terms of things affecting SEO are the economy in general since all things flow from that but more in terms of directly affecting SERP's it has to be personalization and universal search for sure.
Back to basics... Or looking ahead?
Google Analytics may lead to a better understanding and evaluation of real traffic and visitor interests of a site based on data collected and may lead to new search results. However, I feel basic html formatting using all of the current and past practices will prevail in the overall search environment now and in the future.
Should be a very interesting time ahead!
What will be interesting
What will be interesting will be the new google search ability in 2009, the features that allow users to delete and filter what they want to see, what happens if they filter and delete all the google ads, then how will google make money?
search wiki
Nice article. Whatever new tool the search engines come out with, SEOs eventually develop ways to exploit them. If and when Google integrates search wiki data into the general search result algorithm (if it is not happening already), then there is the incentive to game the system. Just as there is link exchange, we could see search wiki vote exchange ... you vote for my pages and I'll vote for yours. ... and then Google will develop countermeasures to depreciate the value of wiki vote swapping ... and then the SEOs will ... . The game of search is neverending.
next
HopHunt.com ?? will be the next one?
I doubt about it.
Personized search
Google has maybe overestimated the number of good people with the Personized Search. They will have to keep on their toes for this not to have a devastating effect on the search results. Waiting to see what happens on this one in 2009! Since its release we've seen some changes in our keyword search results, top ranked sites are being bumped down, it will be an interesting year.
Changes?
I see some Changes and Significance in Search...
HopHunt.com will be the next Big G or just second to it.
Search Enigne & Significance Changes
In 2008 Google come out with Personal Browsing Preference technology. I think this is very SENSITIVE WEAPON.
GIANT SEO firm or webmasters by using proxy & other tricks can divert lot of traffic to Particular Site/results.
Merry Christmas.
Thanks
Great job
I really like your post thanks for this.
