Its too late for Twitter to generate a working revenue model . They could at least run ads from Google Adsense ,Kontera , infolinks or any other third party advertising network . Or just like Facebook ads/gift , pro and and enhanced versions should be provided to customers .

The Importance Of Social Networking

It just goes to show the importance of social networking on the internet of today, im sure that many other large businesses will try to follow suit after seeing the financial gain that Dell managed to obtain, i haven't had much personal experience with Twitter, maybe its about time that i get on this gravy train too.
