It's Not Mojo: How to Take the Guesswork Out of Keyword Selection

Keyword selection

I use Google adwords keyword selection tool and found out that bollywood blog is an apt keyword fro my website .

I think keyword research is

I think keyword research is a science in its own right. I use about 3 programs for this.

great information. that

great information. that helped

Listening is key to conversion

I think part of knowing the consumer is listening or collecting the data on what the consumer likes and dislikes.

This can be the key to what the consumer wants to hear in their conversation, so that you can make the conversion.

For example does your homeowner want to do a makeover for their garage, or do they want to remodel their garage?

Both means the same thing but if the consumer in a certain local area, speaks or uses terms in a certain way. You have to pay attention to those important factors.

Testing, Analytics and Long Tail

Nice article. I think the biggest elements that are playing roles in today's successful online companies are:

-Understanding user intention for each keyword selected
-Knowing what stage the buyer is in and offering the correct content, product or document to lead them through the buying cycle
-Running a PPC campaign and tracking the site with Google analytics to confirm / disprove all keywords, and improve positioning for keywords that are heavy converters.
-Testing ad copy on all pages all of the time via split testing.

I have been using google

I have been using google adwords keyword tool and have been targeting the most expensive words organically, but with the addition of one word, for example website design company, i have target web design company florida.

Check out my Florida web design company, my website design portfolio and learn more about my web design companies website

Good article

Keyword discovery and then selection can make or break an SEO campaign. You have outlined a good rational way to go about keyword selection for any campaign. Old measurement parameters like KEI do not mean much as keyword research is much more comprehensive

Keyword Info

Knowledge of one's niche and the buying habits of customers in that niche will never substitute for lists that software produces. While tools can give us more ideas for our marketing keywords, Murray has pointed out the problems and some excellent points to remember. It takes some understanding to identify the right triggers that will result in conversions.

It's Not Mojo

This is perhaps the most exhaustive keyword selection post I have read all year. Not only has it given me insight into my own Search PPC efforts, but going into the New Year, I am already faced with new challenges that this article made me aware of. Such as the strength of my keywords, vs. relevancy. This is not something I ever considered. In addition I also used the volume information from Google keyword tool as my sole method of choosing keywords, (hey I'm new at this cut me some slack). However, I am not embarrassed to say that this is not the way to make money, nor is it a very wise method. Thank you for this self explanatory and eye opening post.

Informative article

Good, in-depth article. Most SEO companies have learned over time to apply similar principles in selecting keyword and keyphrases. This article gives some good shortcuts to saving newbies the trouble of learning them the hard way.
