Ebay Fraud Complaint
I got so fed up with eBay and PayPal, having been cheated both as a buyer and as a seller, after years of paying and earning money for eBay, having been afflicted by feedback blackmail, having had false PayPal scam claims made against me, I finally, no matter how wise I had become to try and avoid such issues, decided to give eBay up as a bad joke.
My buddy is in EXACTLY the same boat; he decided to launch his own fraud free auction site to get back at eBay, v Bid me (do NOT use the link code if it is not allowed – if links in the html arte not allowed simply put "v Bid me"); he does not charge sellers listing fees or commissions for basic / regular listings, which is nice. But me, I think I have decided to go for legal action against eBay and PayPal.
I want to share some info and advice with others, to help them I hope.
eBay security BS - eBay claim they are doing all they can to prevent fraud, but that is false. Just look at the eBay UK registration process and compare this with the eBay com process. OMG, you have to provide card details and your home phone number (which eBay checks) on the UK site but ANYONE can open a .com account with a free gmail address! Why is that? Because fraud enforcement is MUCH tighter in the UK, so eBay has to comply and take greater steps to prevent fraud. So then ask yourselves, how is it eBay dot com are doing everything they can to combat fraud?! It is a nonsense.
eBay feedback - Got a problem with a buyer or seller - too late or can not leave feedback on eBay / eBay remove your feedback? Find an eBay user warning site and leave feedback for them there; just look at what Google shows for certain eBay users names (search for the likes of "leonmad", "majabali" and "history_relics")
I hope this helps. As I said, I am going to sue eBay and PayPal. If anyone wants to chat about this, let me know.
Ebay is definitely
Ebay is definitely alienating its user base. When will this company learn?
If you sell on eBay, read this!
Evidently all of the negative blogs and postings referring to eBay and Pay Pal proved to be right on the money. No wonder other sites are gaining on them and sellers are dropping like flies, if eBay and brother Pay Pal don’t change their attitude and become “seller friendly” they are destined to fail and disappear just like many other web businesses did. No sellers = No buyers= No eBay.
Warning about free USPS First Class Shipping, Pay Pal will confiscate your account if you prove successful, sell a lot of items and ship them free of charge via first class mail. They require TRACKING INFORMATION. This Just happened to me, after 8 month of hard work and 1,000’s in fees they confiscated my account until I prove delivery. I thought in this country we are “innocent until proven guilty”, but not to eBay or pay pal.
The latest whizz from eBay
The latest whizz from eBay is that you HAVE to offer free p&p as a first option, though you can offer alternatives at cost. Yeah, right. Who's gonna opt for Recorded Delivery when they can get the item for free? Another thing is, if your item sells for £2 and postage is £3, the seller loses out by £1, so what's the bloody point in putting things up on eBay in the first place? The obvious answer is that eBay want to discourage the occasional punter and concentrate on those who have "eBay Stores". In other words, they want to compete in the same league as Amazon and to hell with the ordinary punters who actually made eBay a success in the first place. It's a real shame, but whoever owns eBay now is/are greedy capitalists who have abandoned all connections with the grass-roots community. And that has seriously pissed off millions of people like myself.
O.M.G. these comments have
O.M.G. these comments have been illuminating. I knew that something was terribly wrong with eBay (mainly fees and customer service issues) so I never sold anything through them. I did sell through Etsy briefly (about the same as eBay as far as fees and grief) so I was already disillusioned with Paypal fees.
I am surprised that eBay has not gone under. They made all those changes supposedly to make business better but all they did was make things far worse.
EBayblows
Here is just another example of Greed, I wonder if these Ebay CEO"s line the toilet seats in Gold and wipe their butts with hundred dollar bills?
SOB's will certainly get theirs someday and then cry about it not being their fault.

Post and packaging fees Paypal fees SUCKS
Now they limited what you can charge for post and packaging. THIS SUCKS. so they can make more on the percentage of the final fee. PAYPAL extortion fees. Fees fees fees more fees higher fees Ebay sooner or later will be down and out.
eBay fees
You are right on...eBay is on the way out. Whatever their original focus was it's long been lost to corporate greed. We entered into eBay for 3 postings and that's only how long it took us to realize there was no end in sight to their shenanigans. Here's to "goodbye eBay"
I partnered with the top Ebay competitor!
I quit Ebay! Now Iam out for revenge! Lets stick it to them like the greedy sons of ####### did to us. I now have my own website where I sell Amazon products, that means I make money off other peoples auctions. Plus I can list all the products of my own that I want, (I do not have to list them with Amazon first) I just put them up on my website. I can also put all the affiliate links banners and digital products that I want on MY webpage and get paid for it. I have my own domain name so Iam building my own brand name and customer base. It was a turnkey website setup and ready to go when I started it, but with the online editor you get with it you dont need to know HTML or any programing to add your own products, banners, affiliate links, or digital products. I can change the site to look anyway I want its very easy to do. And I offer my costomers Free online games, news ,weather, sports and more. All for $20 a month. Why pay Ebays fees when you can have all of this and amazon will pay you to sell other peoples poducts along side yours , and you dont have to list anything on amazon if you dont want to? Go to my site Durashopping.com to see an example of this Website. I have modified the site(you will not get one just like it) to look the way I want, you can do the same very easy. If you also want to do this- just click the green banner at the top of the page.

You are a reader's waste of time
Why do you waste the readers time with your shameless promotion of your own agenda? Ok, you left eBay...now you want to resort to slimy tactics just like they do. I guess you learned a lot from eBay. I wouldn't visit your site out of principle alone. Go pedal your wares elsewhere and leave these forums to people who have something meaningful and applicable to say re: topic.
EBAY IS THE BIGGEST SCAM ARTIST EVER
the reason i left ebay is there crazy rules and even more crazy fee. the last month i was on ebay i paid the 5000.00 for listing fee and seller fees so i started my own website. under 20.00 a month alot better then 5000.00 and was able to lower the price on my jerseys and even expand my business. i would advise everyone on ebay to do the same.

Problem with ebay is that
Problem with ebay is that there isnt alot of content allowed in stores and still manage to remain a user freindly site. I made my own site and now ive got good content and good sales.
e/bay
I was a e/bay seller for 5yrs and made a nice income with a good feedback score .
when e/bay changed the rules it just got to hard ,now i run my own web site ,Thanks e/bay for helping me see the light.
e/bay now is really just a bad joke, and a good place to stay away from.
Better alternatives exist, but sellers have ignored them
There's a site Random Plaza that is designed to fix all problems with eBay and other community marketplace websites. randomplaza.com -- Read the features.
The site is free to list and puts everything on google product search, but despite this it has been impossible to get sellers to list. As it is, advertising can't be bought until there's lots of products and I can't list a hundred thousand myself.
PS: The captcha math question asked me to divide by zero. I am putting in "NAN" which should be correct and I'll see if it posts

Former eBay seller
I have been an eBay member for almost 9 years now. I have not sold anything there in quite some time, though occasionally I will shop there because a few of my favorite merchants don't have regular websites, only eBay stores. As a web designer who has helped dozens of customers sell stuff on eBay over the last decade, I am just about burned out on them. I still get customers who, once their site is complete, want to rush out and put up ads on eBay, thinking they'll make their fortune. The sad fact is, if they put up 1 auction for 30 auctions, they can never manage to sell anything anymore. There is too much competition from sellers that are just drop shipping stuff from china, etc. and with the economy being what it is, statistically, many, many people have to keep re listing their items and still find that they never get a bid. The best way to go is to get your own website and use free classifieds sites to promote your items to see if you can do better using those methods.
EBAY SUCKS!!!!!
Ebay sucks the fees are too high, and then there is paypal with their ridiculous fees. Fee-Ebay and paypal is killing the small business. Google please help us create a website to rival fee - ebay.

I've also been with FeeBay since 2002, and I am not liking their "improvements" and exorbatent fees. The rich just keep getting richer. WTH. Even though I still maintain 100% positive feedback, I'm jumping ship before the inevitable. Thanks to those recommending iOffer.com. The ratings transfer was painless. I am over FeeBay and every other company like them. Good luck everyone!
Ebay & Paypal Ripoffs
I sold a car on Ebay 15 months ago and the money was deposited into my Paypal accountby the customer, the customer picked up the car, along with the transfer of title and bill of sale receipt and Paypal froze my account 30 minutes later and then three weeks later, gave the money back to the customer.........after of course charging my checking account for the fees!
I turned this over to the state Attorney General and the County DA, filed a police report, etc.
I have never received any funds.
Nice!
"sold a car on Ebay 15 months ago"
Sorry to hear you got burnt.. in essence.. i believe it's called "theft"... call the car in as STOLEN.... they'll have to provide some kind of paperwork to show it was bought -traded etc.. All roads lead to Dept of Motor vehicle.. NO MATTER WHAT STATE ONE OR EITHER ARE IN. Taxes are paid on the registration.
-File a theft report in buyers state.. and your own
-File a report for Attorney General's office in your state and the buyers.
As a hard lesson learned myself.. not on ebay.. but from the newspaper.. i sold my car.. and didn't keep a bill of sale for myself. The buyer never registered it... put dead plates on it.. and even though the registration sticker was taken off.. I got tons of tickets from the VIN number... and a lien.
TO ANYONE SELLING A CAR.. NO MATTER HOW THEY SELL IT.
HAVE 2 COPIES OF BILL OF SALE.. BOTH - BUYER AND SELLER HAVE TO SIGN BOTH COPIES. ONE COPY GOES TO BUYER.. ONE TO SELLER... TO PROTECT THE SELLER.
GOOD LUCK .
foolish!
you were foolish to use paypal to sell a car. It is never a safe way to do business....deposit through paypal MAYBE, but pay the whole thing through paypal...stupid!....Even ebay warns of such scams...You must have been a newbie to allow someone to buy a car and pay for it with paypal....
Do Bot Bail Ebay Out Part 2
I agree with the above comment about Ebay bailing themselves out with all of the increased fees and ridiculous new policies. If you are looking for an expensive hobby and have money to burn, then by all means become a seller on Ebay. If you are an honest, hardworker who is trying to make a profit for a living, then avoid them like the plague.
Once upon a time, Ebay was in ingenuous idea for many different classes of people, but someone got greedy. Just like all of these banks need a bailout, I beleive Ebay does too. Ebay used to be built on builing a longterm relationship with buyers and sellers. Now, Ebay is all about making the quick buck on new sellers, sucking them dry and then dropping them for a new crop of victims.
DO NOT BAILOUT EBAY!!!!
Ebay can't be repeated
I was an ebay member way back when they had just a few pages of items. At that point they (Ebay) encouraged people to post to bulletin boards or anywhere else they could with a link to their Ebay item. In other words: spam everyone! This was probably the first occurance of "viral marketing" on the net. Most high traffic boards are now moderated and users are getting more savy about what is spam and jump past it.
Ebay marketing basically got its sellers to do their job for them and probably received tens of millions of dollars of marketing value for nothing. This is something that todays competition cannot repeat without being branded as a spammer (or promoter of Spam) and suffering the consequences.
I absolutely hate what Ebay has become. Maybe someone with a few hundred million to spare (are you reading this Google) will start a quality site with little or no fees for the first two years and advertise the daylights out of it. Bye Bye Ebay.
Oh well... I can dream anyway.
Google should have bought up
Google should have bought up Gbay.com and smoked the folks in SanJose. The heir apparent to ebay, similar cachy name ebid, is lousing things up even worse. Cybersquatter Rick Schwartz of Florida holds the ebid.com domain name.
As soon as ebay began with the bad changes, ebid.com should have been at this mans door offering him a small percentage of US FVF in exchange for the use of the name. No one is going to remember us.ebid.net it totally defeats the catchy name of ebay competitor 'ebid'. Has Ebay paid Mr Schwartz to'park ' ebid.com?
This story repeats over and over again as others drop the ball. Where is Chris Fain? Ray Romeo is pure evil, but perhaps evil could combat evil best- maybe auctions need him after all? Overstock's Pat Byrne is another one. (Alas the market proved him right-- but tough. He's not a broker, he's CEO of a major auction operation. He did not mind the store and dropped a huge ball the past January.)
The combination of the competitors' utter ineptitude, and Bill Harding's youth smarts and HUMILITY, is why Bonanzle.com is burning up the charts even without the added aura of auctions. They have inspired USER LOYALTY.
I think it is noteworthy that loosely run grassroots organizations, like Craigslist, Etsy and Bonanzle, pose the fastest growing threat to the archaic internet behemoths Amazon and Ebay. I just assumed it was going to be Google.
Oh well, guess Craig Newmark and Bill Harding will have to get 5% of our 60 billion a year, instead!!!
Let capitalism work
For those of you who say that capitalism is dead or defective, wait and see what happens to Ebay. We do not need the government to come in and regulate Ebay. We just need to let good ole capitalism work.
The opportunity is there and, judging by all the complaints here and abroad, the market is ripe for someone to come in and "wipe the table clean." We have seen several examples of people making the attempt in the examples above. Maybe it will be one of these sites, maybe another one not yet created. Regardless, this missed opportunity by Ebay has the "creative juices" of many an enterprenuer flowing, and the result is that we are going to see someone come along and give the consumer what they want - all the good of Ebay without all the crap.
One of the principals of capitalism is "if you don't, someone else will." We are going to get a better version of Ebay. No one puts a gun to my head and forces me to keep selling on Ebay. The existing Ebay management has shown that it is willing to ignore it's customer base in the name of profitability. With that in mind, if Ebay were ever regulated, would you ever trust that same management group? Of course not. Join one of the new sites or start your own. Good things are to come - we just need to be patient.
Bad For Ebay, it's kinda funny
I remember when ebay was a good site to visit. I actually got deals, but lately (for the last 6 months) I haven't found the deals I was used to. The recent fiasco they had is just another indication as to why they are too big for their britches.
Ebay
I agree ebay is to big for their britches. Ebay use to be a fun or great site for sellers and buyers, but with all the changes they really have went the wrong direction. Expecially with the new feedback system and their changes in no money order payments..Sellers really have been taken advantage off. Ebay tries to control every thing they do. Buyers can leave negative feedback even when sellers do everything possible to satify buyers, and the seller cannot do anything, where is the fairness factor on ebay. www.comtexauctions.com
Ebay feedbacks
I have one for you. On my shipping instructions I put I am not responsible for the item I sell after it leaves my hands if you don't insure, well, this person doesnt insure and then is able to leave negative feedback and worse than that is able to get PayPal to refund them their money back. My question. Why put shipping instructions on if no one really has to abide by them?? If It were me, I would tell the buyer if you didnt insure then you took your chances by not insuring and have lost your money and will not be able to leave negative feedback. THAT IS THE ULTIMATE INSULT TO A SELLER. REMEMBER IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS SAY, JUST CRAB ENOUGH AND YOU'LL GET YOUR MONEY BACK TOO. TRY IT AND SEE. i'M PURELY PISSED!!!
How can they override so many trading laws worldwide
Their idea of a level playing field is an army of bulldozers squashing so many into the ground on their never ending and insatiable quest for cash by any means. They really need to be dismantled and dismembered from corporate existence before more folks are bled dry.
Feebay and Painpal Management , you really have no conscience for the suffering you are causing so many . Your day will come and may the regulators of many lands go after you with all the artillery they have.
