Journalists are known cynics. But when Barack Obama surpassed 270 electoral votes, we all knew it was a huge moment. The newsroom suddenly got very quiet. The sense of history was palpable. I think we all felt honored to be standing there, passing that word along to our readers.

I followed Yahoo News that night because they do a good job and because AOL is just unbelievably bad, in news and everything else.  (My pet peeve is their tendency to give you a teaser line, but when you click on it, the subject of the teaser line is buried somewhere in a slideshow of 64 photos, or somewhere down in the text of a ten-paragraph story.)

On the other hand, I think Yahoo News may be taking a bit too much credit, because they mostly just post what comes off the AP wire.
