Guillaume Bouchard, the CEO of NVI, spoke next, and actually ran out of time before he was through. Yet he got out a Mark Twain quote - "it's better to be popular than right" - and emphasized the massive audiences available through Digg and StumbleUpon. To attract them, he advised not going overboard with text, making a minimum of clicks necessary, and ensuring that your servers can actually handle the extra traffic.

Word of Mouth is Key in Beyond Social Buzz

I agree Social Media is a different way of doing word of mouth marketing. We are using the internet to connect with others. When done correctly on twitter, facebook, spicypage, etc...

The rewards are huge when you have loyal followers. Even if you're in the home improvement industry that does Replacement Windows Portland, or kitchen remodeling from Florida. You have to embrace what the customer is using to communicate.

Coming from a country where adoption isn't as high as the U.S. (South Africa), a lot of these concepts are hard to follow (since I'm moving over).

I'll just have to test the water as I grow business over here.
