I think it's just a matter of wading through all the dead and spam blogs. The sheer amount of blogs are making it a bit more difficult to find quality ones though. So maybe it's not so much dead, as it is increasingly disorganized.

New Trend

There seems to be a new trend of blogging doom-speak link bait.

Link bait

Well as far as I am concerned not only is the blogosphere far from dead but every day I see new people entering the 'sphere.  Fellow college students every day tell me they are starting blogs and are looking for tips, if for some reason aggregate numbers show a decrease I feel it is just because the lower rungs of the ladder have yet to be noticed.  I also think that author just wants to cause controversy and gain links.
