Regarding online Newspaper
I agree that the online newspaper content should be free so that people get much more knowledge or updates. Nowadays everything is getting online so that it Should be preferable.
Should Online Newspaper Content Be Free?
One major problem with online newspapers and advertising lies in the reason people visit their web sites in the first place: to read the news. So captivated by the news they often do not pay much attention to the ads . .. so I think the advertising model for publications has to change - evolve in a new concept. I have a few ideas about how that could happen, still working out the fine details. Having said that, content-specific advertising as delivered by Google and Yahoo is working for a lot of publishers. I know this because I have researched results on Google Adsense Forums and elsewhere, and have seen some good results myself with my own publications. I won't say paid subscriptions for online newspapers is totally out of the question, especially if you can line up an exclusive, stellar staff of star writers who agree not to dispense their newspaper-specific gems elsewhere. But as you said - there's lots of free news out there, and what companies like Turner are doing with CNN's iReport.com is something else newspapers can't ignore. People are the news, and when given the opportunity people will report the news - often quite brilliantly, with no degree in journalism hanging in the background of their video report. It's a whole new world of news, and we still aren't sure exactly where it's going but it is exciting and hopefully traditional newspapers will pay attention as they make their transitions online. Now, on to your math question . . I will need a few moments . .
