I cant believe it takes an economic meltdown to tell people to save money by buying online, dumb.
Christmas to Save Online Retailers
Although traffic is down on a year by year basis online retailers will be fine as Christmas is such a popular time for them. Once we reach November I'm sure the traffic will pick up to similar levels as last year. The interesting time will be after the January sales as that's when people will be making big cutbacks.

Well I think you're going to continue to see online retailers feel the pinch as the economy slows. Still, as you pointed out they will fare better online than in their store locations
