Slowdown In Facebook Growth
The site's annual growth rate remains impressive at 88% between September 2007 and 2008, but was significantly less than the 2905% it experienced the previous year.
The decrease in growth really doesn't mean much of anything because this always happens to powerful sites. There are many reasons, such as the glamour wearing off and the fact that most folks who are going to join any site do so in the beginning. But most importantly, as the sheer numbers expand, it's hard to show significant increases. After all, if you have 100 members, 10 newbies = 10% growth. For a site that has 1,000 members, 10 newbies are hardly a blip on the screen.
I think these are very intriguing numbers, actually. For anyone interested in UK marketing, Facebook is certainly worthy of consideration.
