From Link Centric to Well Rounded

really?

well, I must say that I checked the date to be sure, then read it again, but you recommend all kind of very inacurate keyword research tools, while google adwords actually gives the data free now within an adwords account

better to just use adwords keyword tool ... forget about the other ones ...

Get your titles optimized

Get your titles optimized Marianne. The titel should contain the main keywords for that page. If you never come up for any product in the serps you might want to look into this.

Don't forget portability

I agree that good link building starts at home.  Makes everything else go easier.  Part of this also making sure your content can easily "travel" by giving users of any content the ability to share and linkn that content.  I don't mean the overbearing 400 chicklets to every bookmarking service approach, which makes the content look desperate, I mean a well placed link to help an already happy reader send your content for a vertical ride.

Great words Eric I hate the

Great words Eric I hate the idea that putting every social bookmarking is considered a main part of your link building strategy. Also, I love your stuff.

Are you perpetuating myths?

I was surprised to read that you were even talking about keyword density. That concept has been debunked several times and falls into the category of SEO myths. In fact, focusing on keyword density might hurt anyone's site instead of helping it.

I think that almost any

I think that almost any concept concerning getting rankings can be debunked in the right situation. The purpose of this article was to give people a foundation.

I would never suggest keyword stuffing, which is can and will hurt your site. Your content must be readable and not repeat the word over and over just to get the words on the page.

I have followed these steps as building blocks for rankings and have been very successful, even with super competitive keywords.  Give those steps a try next time and tell me if you don't see a difference.

But do you think its about

But do you think its about the amount of content or quality of content that determines your overall ranking position?

I think that adding content

I think that adding content frequently is good but I would have to say it's more about creating good content for a purpose. If you are writing about things no one cares about you will get ranked but no traffic. On the flip side, if you put content on your website that isn't engaging people will often leave your site without going to another page, thus making the visit worthless.

Yes it can get very

Yes it can get very confusing after a while.  I now just concentrate on frequently adding content to my websites.

Thankyou, that is a very

Thankyou, that is a very interesting read

RE: Help

@Marianne I assume you are referring to this site http://www.directsourceplus.com which looks like it is using the Yahoo! E-Commerce package.

There are quite a few reasons your store may not be generating the desired sales. One of the main questions is are you getting traffic right now? If so you may investigate these ideas:

  1. Design - Your site is fairly plain compared to other sites that sell electronics. I do like the fact you have an 800 number at the top and Free UPS shipping, good call there
  2. Is your price competitive, you probably don't have a lot of customer loyalty yet, so start blogging, writing reviews and anything else you can do to help keep people coming back
  3. Add more pictures of each product and a larger view.

If not look into these:

  1. Is your content unique? Make sure that you didn't copy and paste the content from another site. Google will more than likely give preference to site where it found the content first.
  2. Use Google Webmaster Tools to get info on your products
  3. Submit your products to Google Base and try creating an EBay page to start generating more traffic and links
  4. Put links on your product pages to related products or customers who bought this also bought. This will help you work on your internal linking
  5. Look for outside links. Your market is pretty competitive so you will have to work hard on this one, but it is necessary.
  6. Work on the titles and description for each product/page. It appears they are the same right now, not a good idea.

This is just a short list from a very quick review. I hope it helps and good luck getting more sales.
