Iam delighted to see that iam not the only one suffering!
You guys here are doing great, continue the revolution to help save millions of poor sellers whom are once reputable and has now become trash... thats sad and helpless at this point, we should write in individually and send our thoughts to the stock market news.. or directly to eBay main office to let the woes and tear reach them efficiently just 20% out of a million seller whom does that might change back to what we used to be in the past!
Salute!
Buy.com fraudulent
A friend of mine recently bought an item off buy.com from a place called unbeatable.com and they sent this person a white cube instead of the paid for hutch. Which was in the shopping cart, then they preceded to say that you have no leg to stand on and we will not send the hutch.
buy.com is a mess and is cheating the consumer

Re: Ebay's Arrogant Dictator-Like Business Practices
My wife and I started selling used collector-type auto parts on Ebay over 10 years ago and it was a VERY lucrative little business that we had going. Listing fees were five cents for anything under $10.00 and commissions were reasonable. We did very well and for a time, I seriously considered leaving my career in the forset industry to do something that I really enjoyed doing.
Then along came Ebay Motors. Our rate of succesful sales for first time listings was around 90% with most relists selling the second time around. Very few auctions closed with just one bid - almost all had multiple bids. After the implimentation of Ebay Motors, our sales success rate fell to around 50% but we still had multiple bidders on most auctions. We hoped that things would pick up but I believe that Ebay Motors was too complicated and almost everyone who I spoke to never realized that if you did a general search for say - a radio for a 1972 Chevy truck, that a search of Ebay Motors would not show all of the items that showed up with a general search. The techies just have to make everything complicated - if it ain't complicated in their weak little minds, then it can't be any good and it's in need of fixin'.
We quit selling in May of this year simply because of Ebay's forced rules that were driving away buyers and other sellers like myself who were consistant but really, I guess that when compared to certain auto auction houses that were using Ebay to move a lot of the second rate low quality vehicles, my few hundred dollars per month in fees and commissions were, I guess, pretty small potatoes. In May, when we quit selling, if we sold 30% of the items that we listed in a batch of auctions, it was a banner day! SOme weeks, we wouldn't sell enough to pay the listing fees and all related Ebay charges which many times were almost half the amount of what we got for the item - and - almost ALL sold for the opening bid with only one bidder.
I for one have had about enough of giving money to a cold, uncaring corporate monster that I am ashamed to say I helped in my own miniscule way to create and feed. All they would have to do as I recently suggested to their "Suggestion Board" ( aka the Wailing Wall of the Internet where you can complain, cry, wail, rant and tear your hair out - but really, nobody gives a rat's butt or cares ) that perhaps they should consider emailing out survey forms to ALL of their registered users asking what they are happy with and what displeases them. Or how about a referendum sort of idea when they are going to make changes such as the "new" search page or the order in which running autions appear when you do a search? Or at least set it up so that you can set a default setting on your computer . They have everyone's name and email address in a data base.. but then, that would be common sense... and in this electronic age, Mr. Common Sense has passed away.
agree
I started with ebay 2 years ago.. it had more personality.. then they keep changing their policy in their behalf.. Not only they do not follow their own policy the people who attends now the phone YElled at us for doing nothing.
I am closing my store and let the counterfeit make their business. I sell brand name goods but when I see counterfeit i reported with no solution at all bc ebay makes millions dollars accepting people to sell their pirate stuff. the worst from june 14 they are not harming seller, but will steal seller altogether . A buyer can state they did not receive the item or receive as not as described. Send then to u an empty envelope with trackable and email paypal they returned the item.. If the envelope is empty u lose your money and the goods.. Nothing to say how hassle is to deal with these inept people the new policy puts seller to agree that they will not get a law suit.lol..
they do nothing but the biggest fraudelent people are the manager -ceo of this company that i think and many sellers do, is just a worthless company..
Now they asked us to sell under the best offer.. people offer us a price we cannot take.. please turn off this site, and ask the ceo to be audited for accepting counterfeit acts.. does the law works?? not really.
I am FED UP with those scammers buyers and who know the scammers are not indeed the ebay manager people. We never know who is buying the items.. it is like a pure hasssssssslllleeee.
Please fold this company and one day when another site appears,, good buy ebay..
so frustrating they are now.. it is not more fun to sell on their site..
amazon.com..lol.. another thievery corp.. who not only get 30% fees, but email letters senseless and do not accept to get the written proof..
I am refusing to add more items to those who does not give a value for the many thousand fees we pay them.. for a minimum profit.. they can go to hell.. one day they will be. the begbuyer.com. no seller there.. just the buyers, then just the ceo.. I am counting the days they will be gone.
thanks for your article.
thanks for your article. Very help me. I will more like visit to webpronews site. :) Fantastic
EBAY I THINK IS ACTING ILLEGALY
How can one price(fee) for some be any different then Sotheby's and Christie's lawsuit some years ago. One commission for some and another for others? This can't be legal.
I have sold many thousands of dollars on ebay, often and I mean often loose money on shipping, I'm often told by them, my shipping appears exessive, unreal.
No recourse for the selling in any way, any comment by a buyer is fact, a poor direction in an effort to still go forward in corporate profit structure, hard to think they would act for one side and not the other as if to suck as much out of a seller as possible.
Curbing the amount of certain items you sell, only 2 a month because of fakes, they say, again, restraint of trade in favor of a large company. Can't really be legal for them to do. So If I have more then 2 fakes, I can sell at the rate of 2 a month, but sell them, crazy thinking!
It has alway been odd that I would pay them some tens of thousands in fees and then it is hard as heck to really contact them. My bank makes good money off my home loan, they work and listen in earnest any time as any good company would. Ebay help has always been a exersize in total control, again the structure towards a certain profit ladder has been their help.
No money orders, or checks in payments, really bad, again I think restraint of trade, the steer is towards their payment centers and fees. I had a clothing store for 14 years, did over 300k in 1979 and so forth, I took check like crazy, maybe loose 500.00 a year. Their reasons are slop.
I see a number of other things. I think there should be a real concerted effort to confront and let the world see what this new century type of big business is really like, like the same mentalitly that has sunk the stock markets and more.
thanks for its article..
thanks for its article.. very helpful.. :)
10 years as an Ebay seller and I'm VERY dissappionted
I have been a seller on Ebay for nearly 10 years time !! One of the dieing breed of small time sellers finding and listing cheap cool stuff. I used to be fantatical about Ebay and how great it was.
It seems over the years now that Ebay has forgotten completely about those who made the company huge (and rich) in the first place. Small time sellers !! each step they take shows their basic contempt or disrespect for sellers.
Changing the feedback in total favor of the buyer (buys can and now do treat sellers like trash. never paying, demanding refunds, etc.. knowing sellers have ZERO RECOURSE) ebay gives full refund and nothing seller says or does will change their mind.
Giving big sellers total favoratism over small individual sellers. Once buying stuff from Ebay becomes exactly like any and every other site selling the same stuff at the same prices, they will figure out that they are now competing with 100 other on line sellers. Buy.com, Overstock Amazon walmart Best Buy ect. What makes Ebay special (used to anyway) was the stuff pulled from attics and garages that you would never ever find on any of the other selling sites.
And now for the latest insult to sellers. Fixing the prices for shipping. No matter what the actual cost might be. Ebay will now decide for sellers (and in turn for buyers) what they will pay for shipping. On many books and other items I sell, I stand a good chance of having to pay more to ship the item then I will actually collect from buyers. How dumb would I have to be to continue to do that? so, there go my low low starting bid prices I gave my buyers for years. Now instead of buyers being able to look and decide for themselves what's fair price + shipping. They are being told by Ebay what items will cost.
All this makes me very sad. I want to be the huge fan of Ebay I was 10 or 5 or even 1 year ago. But, over and over it seems they go out of their way to punish the one group they should be grateful for. (sellers do pay ALL Ebay fees !!!) Without sellers there will be NO MORE EBAY !! and is this rate thats where this is headed.
My advice to those that care. If you have Ebay stock. SELL IT. This companies best days are behind it. Some other smart nimble company will soon come along and be what Ebay was 5 years ago.

ebay seller ' ndepndant '
eBay / Buy / Me
First let me say, if eBay is giving Buy.com free listings than SHAME SHAME SHAME on them!! That's a total betrayal of the foundation of small sellers that put the E in EBAY. With out the sellers, there is no eBay, and I don't care how many registered buyers they have. No Sellers = No Buyers = No Ebay! Sounds simple, so why would eBay do these things? Maybe it's because the Seller part of the equation has been subsituted for a other variable perhaps? I honestly don't know, but being a seller on eBay, I'm sure it has or will effect me sooner or later. With all the changes they are making, I'm sure I'll see the effect soon. One of the biggest things they have recently changed that has already shown it's effects is the Seller DSR scoring system. Which allows buyers to anonymously rate sellers on 4 categories; Communication, Item Description, Shipping Time, and Shipping Cost. In theory this system sounds great, and provides a method for buyers to be total honest with their opinions of the seller, with out fear of feedback retaliation. However, out of the 4 ratings the last one "Shipping Cost" is the one that is truely flawed in the system. Ebay expects the buyer to know what a fair shipping cost is, however if you don't deal with UPS or USPS or whom ever else. Then how would you honestly know what a fair price would be. No one likes to pay shipping cost, and so the opinion of most buyers would be of a negative nature. Which of course now hurts sellers under the new system. You see, if your DSR's on eBay aren't of a certain level or higher, then your exposure in search results are lowered. Which in turns shows itself in your monthly sales figures. Now eBay's response is, offer FREE shipping. Which of course doesn't help, because in order to absorb the cost of this, the seller has to increase their over-all price. Which makes the sale that much harder. Now this all wouldn't be a bad thing if the profit would still be there. However, after paying the Listing Fee, Final Value Fee, PayPal Transaction Fee, and Cost of Goods, there isn't anything thing left over for the seller. So what's the point of selling on ebay in the first place? This 'Offer free shipping' thing has really upset me, most sellers on ebay don't realize that the Final Value Fee is based on the listing price and not the added shipping cost. So moving shipping into the price in order to offer free shipping will cost you more in Final Value Fees than it's worth and leaving that much less left over for the seller.
One finally question I have is, does the sellers on eBay realize that in this recent listing fee change, that eBay states in their emails, will make the over cost of selling on ebay lower for the sellers. This really doesn't make a difference in cost for the sellers. Yes your listing Fee is cheaper ($0.35), but the final value fee has increased, and the email sent out goes on an on about the new listing fee and how great it will be for the sellers, but doesn't mention - not even once - that the FVF has increased. Imagine my surprised when I did my weekly sales audit! I will say this, the ebay cost for the week wasn't lower based on our averages.
Well that's my opinion, be it as it may.

The new feedback for buyers
The new feedback for buyers has had an adverse affect on my sales. There are many unpaid items and bidders comments are glib, like "I don't want it" "I didn't read the size until I won" "I don't have any money" and there's simply nothing that I can do as a seller except spend more time filing for unpaid items' final value fees. My sales have hit rock bottom; there is simply not the bidding going on that there used to be and this new breed of buyer is very annoying. Does anyone have some good advice for me as a seller?
Australia RBA bank seeks end of Ebay
Australia RBA bank seeks end of Ebay PayPal rules
SYDNEY, Aug 20 (Reuters) - Australia's central bank on Wednesday said it would seek to have online auction site Ebay remove rules that could favour the use of its PayPal payments system over other payment methods.
In a statement, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) said it had received a number of representations against Ebay's no-surcharge and no-steering rules.
Such rules prevent a seller on Ebay from charging extra to recoup the cost of a buyer using a particular payment method such as Paypal. Ebay has also prevented sellers from stating a preferred method of payment, such as direct deposit or credit cards.
"Where no-surcharge and no-steering rules have existed in other systems, the Board has encouraged their removal on the grounds that these rules can diminish competition in the payments system," the RBA said.
"Consistent with this, the Bank will shortly be holding discussions with PayPal with a view to seeking the removal of these rules," said the statement.
Ebay recently abandoned attempts to make PayPal the only method of payment in Australia, expect for cash on delivery, after objections from the country's consumer watchdog.
In Australia, the central bank has the power to regulate all payment systems, including PayPal. (Reporting by Wayne Cole)
E-bay is a joke! They are
E-bay is a joke! They are letting people sell cell phones that have been reported lost or stolen! Make them aware of it 3-times and the auction just keeps on running! Whats even worse is that people are bidding on the darn thing. The phone will never be activated again! but e-bay will do anything for money. The feds need to take a good long look at the mighty e-bay and maybe they can set fines so high it will help the national debt! E-bay needs to be knocked off that high saddle they have been sitting in. and i want to be in the front row.
LOLOLO..they do not care..
LOLOLO..they do not care.. they like to be on newspaper stating they lost this lawsuit or another..
i reported several sellers but norhing was made. they said something concerning as vero..lol.. they are the f.. liars the world could get..
I am shutting my store bc i do not want to join their new policy coming june 14 which will harm all sellers dramatically.
paypal is not longer get the dispute.. who will? the predators ebay people.. and of course they will solely benefit the buyers.. Wait few more months..not too long from now.. they will sunk,, bc no sellers who honestly sell will remain.
yesterday a seller told me she got a original item for 40cents, when the factory sell no less than 40USD a piece in wholesale.. is this dare?
OH, I forgot, she is a powerseller and contributes to ebay fees a ton.. I am a small sellers bc selling original items cost a lot.lol.
End of story :: E BUYERS and E FAKERS, u are in the best place world of counterfeit.. U will remain their alone.. spend your money buying and selling trash.. u were made for each other..
MISERABLE EBAY.
Stock manipulation
The free listings that are being posted by buy.com will only help for the short term. It will keep listings and will keep the stock price up because that is what the analyst look at. But sooner or later the 2.3% sell thru rate will be reflected in the bottom line. The bottom line is all that counts. With no listing fees from buy.com and very little final value fees because of that sell thru rate, It wont take long for analysts to realize they have been duped. Then and only then will the stock crash and then Bye Bye Donahue
where's the beef?
Okay, so eBay(c) is selling out their small sellers....so what! so they are making it impossible to sell for profit on their site? so what! So they want to be another Overstock.com(c)? So what! This is their site..right? so why not LET THEM HAVE IT ALL TO THEMSELVES!!!!! you read me right..stop shopping there! I mean, lets face it, eBay(c) in MY PERSONAL OPINION is the first place to sell stolen items, cheap items, broken items, cheap stuff from China, India, Asia..etc. Just look at the prices compared to the recieved items. I purchase a small table top cooker on eBay(C), then it arrives, then I see its HALF the size of the pictured item, smells like smoke, (WOW, IT'S USED) and burns my house to the ground? go to a retail shop in your town, support local business, and see what you get, prior to it leaving you smelling like FISH!!! Just my two cents worth.
I agree with u in part. I
I agree with u in part. I sell honestly.. no fake and no trash..But I tough ebay was the world marketplace..
now I am shutting down the store and let the fakers pass along their item via ebay.. they deserve each other.. stupid buyers, with many fakers.. and the amount of scammers.. are absolutely huge.. june 14 is coming.. many sellers are leaving the ebay. let them sell for themselves.. i guess what will be their new actual name::lolo.
this company not only accept conterfeit items they also accept and encourage scammers.. buyer can scam.. they love to see their name in the court: ebay vs herme, vs, tiffany... omg, they lost?? they should close forever..

Who are eBay's customers?
I'm really surprised to see that eBay had begun to break their own rules. Or as they have been going, CHANGE their rules. They have forgotten who their real customers are.. US SELLERS.
We have been paying these fee's since the begining. Now they feel they will make more money by allowing the big guys free insertion and getting more final value fees.
If they are only interested in the big boys selling on eBay, I feel they will start to become another Overstock.com. These big boys have their own websites and retail stores. They most likely are selling their surplus, similar to what Overstock is about.
I'm sure there are going to be many people taking their business to other venues. I actually will still be selling on eBay. I will continue selling until there are more sellers than buyer.
Here is to your success.
-Carlos
eBay...a retail listing house
I believe as Carlos eluded to in his reference to Overstock and Patricia in regards to the sell thru rate, eBay is becoming a retail listing house and moving away from a true peer-to-peer platform. This would allow them to distance themselves from the fraud, customer service issues and other problems. I think this is most likely in a move to appease investors not sellers.
PayPal seems well positioned to take over where eBay should have as it is more agile, less bureaucratic and in general has less layers of the onion to peel back in regards to restructuring.

Ebay doesn't care about
Ebay doesn't care about anybody, not the seller, not the buyer, not the stockholders. Bottom line is revenue at any cost! Buy.com serves just one big purpose - they flood the deflated listings with their items. Their lowly 2.3 sell thru rate and reduced listing fees does not profit Ebay but still makes them "look" successful. Buy.com's main purpose right now is to hide the fact that so many of ebay's sellers have left for other venues, or to open their own websites or just plain quit in disgust. Ebay long ago lost sight of the fact that sellers need to profit or selling on Ebay or anyplace else is just not worthwhile. With every stupid new policy, with every stupid new restriction and hoop to jump thru Ebay loses more sellers AND don't be fooled into thinking that's what they want because those sellers are also BUYERS!
Not a big surprise
Ebay has not cared about the small seller or buyer for quite some time now. If you have been a buyer dealing with a less than honest power seller you would have found out that ebay allows power sellers to disregard ebay policy without consequence. But a buyer or small seller have their feet held to the fire. Ebay is just like any other no good corporate giant, whether you want to believe it or not the number 'one' concern or objective is to increase shareholder wealth at any cost. There is no priority for safety, employees, or customers that matches or comes close to that of profits. Say what you want that is the way it is and if you believe otherwise, you live in a fantasy world! The best way to deal with this is to deal with the mom & pop shops. Even if costs a little more I will support the mom & pop shops.
